Cracked Sugar Cookies I

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2012
Really good. Not super sweet like some sugar cookies. 11 minutes was just right. Crispy outside, tender inside. I really messed up-only put one stick of butter and had to incorporate another after blending everything together. Cookies were still great.

Garlic Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2012
This is a keeper! The amount of seasoning in the flour is the key. I used a bit more seasoning than called for and used Panko crumbs. I did the flour/egg/Panko and put the chicken in the fridge to set for an hour. The chicken was browned and put in a 350 oven while I pulled the rest of dinner together(15 minutes). Next time I will just serve after frying because it lost a *bit* of the crunch but nothing major. So good! For the second time in a week and with allrecipes chicken dishes, my husband said, "You can fix that again anytime!" Thanks, Tanaquil!

Smothered Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2012
My husband told me this was a keeper after one bite. He said he definitely wants to see this for dinner again. The sweet/salty/crunchy topping was delish! Simple to make, too. Next time I will flatten the chicken breasts out a bit to hold more of the yummy toppings.

Peppered Shrimp Alfredo

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2012
Very tasty. My cayenne wasn't very fresh so I used Creole seasoning and it gave it some heat. I didn't use the cream at all-didn't have any and didn't want to use milk. It was still creamy and nice. I'd serve this to company since it's simple and delicious.

Easy Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2012
That was very good. I had some leftover chicken and all the other ingredients on hand. I used fresh medium pico de gallo that had a hint of cilantro in it and it gave the dish a nice flavor. And we aren't big fans of cilantro but it was nice. Easy, filling and yummy. Score!

Salsa Chicken Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2011
Well, this was really good! I had most all the ingredients on hand but wasn't sure it would be that good. Soup mixed with salsa? I sauteed the chicken with some onions, chili powder, and s&p on the stove top since I didn't want to boil it. Then followed the recipe exactly for prep, but used cheddar since that was all I had. So good. Plus I reheated in the oven for leftovers and it was even better. My DH hates reheated chicken but thought this was great. Simple, filling and tasty.

Baked Penne with Italian Sausage

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2011
This was very good. Even DH, who is not an Italian sausage fan, had two helpings. I cut back on the cheese to about 1 1/2 cups but wish I hadn't, even though I used a smaller, 8" x 11" pan. I also used rigatoni since I had it in the pantry and deglazed with white zin since I had it in the fridge. Filling tasty and easy to prepare.

Greek Penne and Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2011
What a tasty, quick dish! We love feta and it pairs well with the chicken. I had everything on hand and additionally threw in 3 big handfuls of baby spinach for more color, flavor and nutrition. Used delicious grape tomatoes from Costco. I will try the marinated artichokes next time since that sounds good, too. The amount of pasta can be cut back; I bumped up all the ingredients since I had 2# of breasts but I still didn't use all the penne called for.

Snappy Green Beans

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2009
Really tasty! I didn't have a cup of onions so I added what I had and used white wine vinegar to taste. Yummy! I'm no longer bored with green beans.

Apple Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
Followed the recipe as far as spice and ingredient amounts (I used Fuji apples), but I gave the apples a quick rough chop after slicing. Wonderful balanced flavor and very tender. I didn't have a 9x9 so used an 8x8 and I think the smaller pan made the brownies a little too "moist" but the taste was fab! I will make this again--after I buy the appropriate pan size.

Texas Caviar I

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2008
I just got another request to prepare this recipe for a party and realized I hadn't reviewed it! Delicious! Make it ahead and it just gets better. Great with Fr*to Scoops so you can get a huge mouthful with each scoop!

Creamy Italian Dressing I

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2008
Really liked this dressing! I had to sub white wine vinegar for red because that's what I had and I used a little more fresh ground pepper because that's what we like. Next time I will omit the sugar or scale it back. Used on a pasta salad and it was delish!

Grilled Tri-Tip with Oregon Herb Rub

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2008
This is an excellent rub for tri tip! I did sub thyme for rosemary-didn't have on hand-and only refrigerated for 3 hours but it was very tasty & tender. I especially like the method given for grilling. I've never used indirect grilling and it is the perfect method for tri tip.

Chili Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2008
Good recipe! I never think to buy chili sauce so I never have it on hand. I always have these four ingredients on hand, though, and just make it up as I need it. Much less expensive this way, too. Thanks!

Amish Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2008
Very good meatloaf. Next time I will use fewer crackers, though. I never use that much filler in meatloaf but wanted to follow the recipe as written. Didn't have the bacon on hand although my ground beef was so lean it would have been a nice touch. We loved the sweet glaze. Made good sandwiches the next day. Will make again. Thanks!

Smothered Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2007
We really liked this recipe! I was a little skeptical about the large amount of onions but yum! It all made sense in the final product. The Kitchen Bouquet browning sauce gave it rich color and taste. I made extra sauce and put all over herb seasoned rice. Tender & delicious!

Catherine's Spicy Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2007
A delicious change from "regular" chicken soup. I've already made this twice and shared recipe with family who also gave it 5 stars. Ingredient list looked complicated but it is super easy and readily available in most pantries. Only 3 changes: I use about 3 *large* chicken breast halves (plenty); add 4 oz. can diced green chili peppers; dollop sour cream on each serving as opposed to stirring into soup pot. Easy, tasty cold weather fare.

Raisin Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2007
Love this cake! I started making it for my two vegan sons but it's a favorite around our house, too. I've tried two different versions but this version (boiling the spices) gives better flavor and nice color, too.

Crazy Cake

Reviewed: May 30, 2006
Great dessert cake for my vegan and non-vegan family. I do like to add an extra tablespoon or two of cocoa powder and I cut back the sugar (I use organic) to 1 1/2 cups. Delicious every time!
