Ground Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2013
When I told my Hubby we were having "Ground Beef & Cabbage" for dinner he looked at me like I was crazy. To our surprise, not only did HE like it, so did our very picky kids! I changed very little, which was to add Garlic to the cabbage mixture and used 2 cans of tomatoes as suggested by other users. I think if you were only to use a 1/2 head of cabbage, 1 can of tomatoes would be enough. Next time, I'm planning on making this w/ all the ingredients listed, garlic, 2 cans Italian diced tomatoes and 1/2 lb Italian Sausage. This is a super-easy, budget-friendly, hearty meal for your family and it tastes great to boot! Don't forget a pinch of red pepper flake & some TX toast on the side! Yum! Thanks for sharing!

Pot Roast Dips

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2013
This is a great recipe and so simple too! I did think it needed a little more fluid in the crock than called for, so I used two cups of warm water w/ two beef bouillon cubes dissolved in it. I then added the au jus & soup mixes as called for and added a little dried onion, garlic powder, & lots of fresh cracked black pepper. The extra seasonings were really unnecessary as it would have been just as delicious w/o it. The only two things I would suggest are adding 2 cups in lieu of 1 and adding onions if you like them. We used hoagie rolls, which I split spread w/a thin layer of (homemade) Horseradish Creme, then added the shredded mozzarella and toasted them in a 350 oven for 7 mins. Then, added the shredded meat as directed & served w/fries and au jus. Though, the meat is so tender, flavorful & juicy, the au jus really wasn't necessary. Enjoy!

Bierox Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2013
I just thought that the sauce wastoo rich & there was too much of it. Also, it needed something, what though, I'm not sure b/c I tried spicing it up and it didn't help the end-result. I love casseroles w/ground beef & cabbage and I love bierochs, so I thought this might be a winner. For us, I'll stick w/ the real-deal bierochs in the future, but your family may enjoy it and in any case the kids did like it, so THANKS for the recipe!

Garlic Lemon Butter

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2012
This is a great recipe b/c u can use it on nearly anything! I tripled this recipe for Valentines Day adding only some chopped chives to it. I melted some of it for a dipping sauce for some Langostino as an appetizer. I sauteed some Tiger Prawns in it& topped them w/ Parmesan & Aioli for the main course. Tossed some green beans w/ it & some crumbled bacon& toasted& slivered almonds for a side dish. Whipped up a Coleslaw in Vinaigrette & I had a fantastic, meal for my guests. I have leftover butter in the freezer to use on another dish. It's so versatile, I suggest making more than u need& freezing it for another time b/c the possibilities are endless! Thanks for a great recipe!

Cheeseburger and Fries Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2012
My Family loves this easy & tasty recipe! Frankly, the 1st time I read it, I thought it sounded horrible. But, I had all the ingredients on hand which meant I didn't have to run to the grocery store. So, I tried it & I'm glad I did b/c fast, easy, tasty & budget-friendly. I like to add the same seasoning I would normally add to the ground beef were I making cheeseburgers: Salt, Pepper, Ranch & a little Worcestire. Yum!

Prosciutto e Melone (Italian Ham and Melon)

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2011
I hate to do this b/c the recipe is sound, but I made this as an app at a dinner party & it was hardely touched. Personally, I just didn't like the flavor of melon & prosciutto together, although I like them both on their own. I know some ppl love it, so maybe it was just me & my company. The texture was not very.pleasant either. Kinda slimy. My suggestion would be to.serve them seperately (the melon & prosciutto). Thank u anyway!

These are fantastic! I like to add just a dash or so of Ranch seasoning mix, but you don't need it b/c these are delicious as-is!

Merlot Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
This was quite good. My Husband & I went to a nice steakhouse for our anniversary & I was trying to mimick a goat cheese merlot butter I had on my filet. So, I used this as an example. I put thin sliced of goat cheese on top of the steak right after it came of the grill and topped with this sauce. Next time, I would use less balsamic vinegar b/c it was a little sweeter than I like, but overall this was really yummy and worth a try!

Ham and Cheese Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
I thought this was pretty yummy! I made it for Chrismas Breakfast. I only made a couple of changes; I used frozen shredded potatoes instead of bread and I used French's Fried Onions instead of Cornflakes. Oh, and I also added a couple extra eggs and a layer of chopped sweet onion! It took about an hour and a half to cook all the way. I put it in before we started opening the gifts and it was finished when we were done opening. Next time, instead of just diced ham, I would use sliced ham and then dice it, just for a better texture. Overall though this was quite good and everyone loved it! It's also great with a little cholula sauce!

Make-Ahead Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
I NEVER make gravy, but, when I hosted my first Thanksgiving this year, packaged gravy just wouldn't do and anything I could get done in advance was even better! I made this two days ahead and it got awesome reviews! I subbed some of the water with white wine at my Mom's suggestion, but, otherwise kept it the same and I would highly recommend! Thanks for sharing!

Radish Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2009
This has such a lovely pink color. The only problem I had was that although I am a HUGE garlic fan, the raw-garlic flavor was just too overwhelming for me. Next time I think I would sautee the garlic first, or, maybe just add about a Tbl of garlic powder. I also added a splash each of lemon juice and worcestire, which I thought added just a bit of flavor and was fantastic! Thanks!

Hearts of Palm Salad

Reviewed: May 14, 2009
I felt like this was just altogether too oily and salty. I am interested in trying another recipe with hearts of palm, because I think it is an interesting ingrediant with potential. But, I probably won't be trying this recipe again. Thanks anyway!

Chicken Breast Stuffed with Spinach Blue Cheese and Bacon

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
I liked this. The only change I made was to use seasoned breadcrumbs rather than seasoned flour. I seasoned them with smoked paprika, salt, pepper and some all-purpose Greek seasoning. Next time, I would season the chicken breasts and the stuffing with salt and pepper too. Maybe add something else like roasted bell peppers to the stuffing as well! Thanks!
