Moo Goo Gai Pan

Reviewed: May 27, 2008
I Hope that people read this review before running out and buying ingredients. NOTE: There is NO rice wine vinegar...IT IS JUST RICE WINE OR SAKE...NOT VINEGAR! I have been making this recipe for a while now and it is great. I just wanted to mention that the "rice wine" should NOT be rice wine vinegar. In case anyone got confused. You can also substitute sake for the rice wine. My family loves Chinese food and this is one of our favorites.

Tofu Cheesecake

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2012
This turned out really good. My husband who is a serious cheesecake fan even liked this a lot. I did add in a small amount of dairy free cream cheese. But, not enough to really change the recipe much. Also, for those who are not getting the tofu creamy enough, ensure that you are using Mori Nu Silken Firm Tofu. You will know that you are using the right stuff because it will come out of the box very silky and smooth looking to begin with. The other tofu's are not silky smooth even before blending. This is really a good recipe.

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2009
This is a great recipe. If you are dairy sensitive like most members of my family do not worry. I made this with vanilla soy milk and it came out creamy and delicious. I added a bit of nutmeg and cinnamon. It had the perfect sweetness and creaminess.

Dutch Babies II

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2008
I first made these when I was in an 8th grade cooking class. And believe me this is a wonderful dish. I haven't thought about making these in years. I saw the recipe and it looked like the one I learned so thought about giving it a try. It turned out great and had the same great taste I remember. I went with the powdered sugar. Sometimes we use a little maple syrup or jelly or jam. These are wonderful.

I grew up on these and they were almost exactly like I remembered. My family loved them. I wanted a recipe that I could make for my mothers visit and I found it. We will definitely be making these again.

Stove Top Tamale Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2008
It was pretty good. I will try it again this time making some changes. I really like the cornbread topping as it was the best part. The changes will definitely be to the meat part.

Basic Pasta

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2008
Pasta tastes great and everyone loved it. I couldn't get a nice thin pasta due to hand rolling. With the aid of a pasta machine this would be perfect.

Not so Sloppy Joe Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
It was pretty good. My family liked it and it will be something that we add to the rotation. Both my sons loved it of course. And I thought the taste was good. A little twist on the classic Sloppy Joe.

Yakitori Don

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2008
This was a great recipe. My family loves Yakitori Don and since we moved can't find any. We did use reduced salt soy sauce but it was still just a little too salty for us. So we will reduce the amount of soy sauce and add a little brown sugar instead of white. All in all this is the best Yakitori Don recipe that I have come across and will be making it a lot. My family has already asked when I will make it again. Thanks a bunch!

Stir-Fried Vegetables with Chicken or Pork

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2007
This was great, we didn't have mushroom soy so substituted regular soy and it was still delicious. Have made this recipe several times, switching up the veggies. Yum.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2010
This is awesome! The family loved it. We made it gluten free with gluten free all purpose flour instead. And I cut the sugar in half because our apples were really ripe. I just wished I had doubled the topping like others said they did. We will be making this again real soon.

Garbanzo Bean Chocolate Cake (Gluten Free!)

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
Finding out that my son and I need to be on a gluten free diet I have been searching for recipes that will work for the whole family. I wasn't sure what I was getting into with the garbanzo beans. This cake was good. We liked the chocolate taste yet the texture was just a bit off. I would have liked for it to be just a bit moister. I did use half splenda and half sugar so that we would have a bit less calories. I will definitely be making it again. I will use some of the other suggestions so I can get this where I can say it is absolutely great.

Extreme Banana Nut Bread 'EBNB'

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2008
We are a family of banana nut bread lovers. And this recipe was alright. We all felt that something was missing. I think next time I will take the advice of others and add vanilla and cinnamon. But it was a pretty good BNB.

Famous Coconut-Almond Balls

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
Taste just like the famous brand. I did put the almond on before I dipped it in chocolate. It worked out great. I did have to put them in the freezer before dipping into the chocolate. Also, I let the chocolate cool just a bit. Dipping leaves them perfect with chocolate all around and no little chocolate tails etc. These were perfect.

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
I can't really fault the recipe since I did follow the substitutions listed. I liked the bars but they seemed just a bit too lemony or sour. Also a bit eggy. Other than that I do like them. I don't have any experience with lemon bars so do not know how they should taste. So it could be that I am not partial to lemon bars. I will make these again and put in less lemon juice.
