Texas Hurricane

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2013
I left out the gin and 151....these are really strong without them and I don't like gin, so I didn't use it. I used Captain Morgan for the rum, Malibu for the coconut rum and Titos Vodka. I also added an oz of Passion Fruit Juice per drink. It adds alittle more tropical flavor and is yummy. I garnished each drink with a slice of a star fruit and a marachino cherry:) soooo good!

Easy Potato Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2013
awesome recipe. . .I had a bag of OBrien Cut Potatoes. The bad worked fine in place of the potatoes. I used Chicken broth in place of the water --- I just always do that, can't bring myself to add water to a soup. We used corn in place of carrots (personal preference). The Results were yummy! This recipe seems like a good one to change up with what you have in the frig.

Bucket of Margaritas

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2012
Good but alittle less water. I used 4 cups and still thought it too watered down. Next time I'll use 3 and add more if needed slowly. It was really yummy when I added Italian Blood Orange Soda. Not as orangey as Triple Sec, but with the Triple Sec and Tequilla it added something needed and was yummy. Good taste. The bucket did slush nicely. I'll use this again with a few additions. The italian blood orange soda and a better tequilla. I enjoyed Texas Republic. It was smooth and nice. Azul -- not so nice.

Farmer's Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2012
I loved this! The only changes I made was to use O'Brien cut potatoes in place of the Hash Browns, I added a can of green chills and I used Canadian Bacon in place of the ham. It was good on it's own but it would be killer breakfast taco filler too

Easiest Brown Gravy Ever

I made as is. It has too much Marsala for my taste with turkey. . It has good taste, but next time, I'll cut back to half and add more if needed

Heavenly 'Apple of My Thigh' Dessert

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2012
OMGosh, so good:) Definitely use green apples like the recipe is written. We tried both -- green won hands down. We used the chopped Toffee bits to save time, but I may buy bars next time to see if there is a difference. I loved the bits, but my son complained that there were too many of them. Personally I loved them, but maybe the bars would leave bigger pieces and "less of them". I'll be serving this at my next get together sooo yummy

Marzetti® Hawaiian Slaw

I made this without the coconut (personal preference) and I used dried cranberries in place of the raisins. It turned out great:) Thanks for the recipe.

Original Chex® Party Mix

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
I made this as written except I replaced the bagel chips with pita chips because I had them in my pantry. For the nuts, I used a planters mix of pecans, cashews and almonds. I also baked the mix rather than microwaving ---- personal preference. I love this mix. I hope my family doesn't eat it all before our guests arrive. Next time I may add cayenne pepper as some recommended. My family likes a little zing too, but I wasn't sure about my guests. If there is any left over I may add it then! Yum!

Very good! These went quick. Everyone wanted more. The only difference I did was add more olive oil to make a better consistency and a little balsamic vinegar to taste. I will be making these again. Thanks for the recipe.

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2007
So easy! Everyone gobbled them up - ages ranged from 5 yrs to 80. I didn't have a the dilemma everyone is talking about with the brown sugar -- don't make these difficult! I lined my pan with foil and just sprinkled the sugar on top of my skewered little smokies wrapped in bacon. They are fabulous. Thanks for the recipe.

Texas Tornado Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2007
This is definitely easy, but I didn't think it had much of a taste. Perhaps it was the fruit cocktail that I used? I guess go for a good brand or cut up your own tasty fruit. Pineapple and peaches tasted good.

Spinach Turkey Roll

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2007
Tastes like a giant meatball. If that's what you're after, go for it.Honestly, I may make it again, but with garlic salt. It was alittle bland. I think the suggestions of using fresh spinach are good too. I used frozen. All in all, it's worth another try but with some changes. I was little nervous of Rolling it, but I was pleasantly surprised, it was easy.
