I was raised with a whole bunch of good cooks in the kitchen. I picked up a little something from everyone. I have to credit my mother in law for getting me started in canning fruits, vegetables and jams. Now it is my favorite thing to do with anything! I make a wonderful home made pickled asparagus and a sweet banana pepper butter that is awesome! I love trying anything new and more often than not put my own spin on it.
My favorite things to cook
I love to grille, marinade, bake and can. My husband will try anything which makes life really easy. I love anything from my garden or anyone else's as well. I would like to learn more about Asian cooking, Italian and Middle Eastern.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Steaks, turkey, any kind of beef. My grandmother made pies that people came for miles to have. We picked berries, fruits etc. so they were fresh, homemade and her crust was to die for. My love of pie baking came from her. My mom did a mean beef roast and her christmas chocolates were the best ever!
My cooking triumphs
My canning recipes are my triumphs. I have lots of folks ask me for them and ask me to help them. It is a blast to get together with friends and family and make a real party out of the process.
My cooking tragedies
No tragedies to report so far. Everything is pretty good, some better than others.
