About this Cook
I am a former Marine and currently am a Stay at Home Dad to a 4 & 5 year old. I took up cooking as sort of a hobby and I guess as therapy to get away from the kids when I needed it. I got tired of making just kids related foods and boxed meals and wanted to really mix things up and cook food from various countries.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are things that can go on the grill. I love the smell of food being grilled! It takes a while to learn how long to cook various meats on the grill, but I've managed never to char anything!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't have very many cooking traditions as growing up my family was very boxed meal oriented! I guess Thanksgiving and Christmas meals were always the best because of the variety of foods we ate then.
My cooking triumphs
I would have to say that my biggest cooking triumph is my Chicken Tikka Masala. I love all different kinds of foods, but there is something about Indian food that I love - the different smells from each dish is something that I'm striving for in my own cooking.
My cooking tragedies
I'm not a baker! I have tried and it's just not for me - I will leave it at that.

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast
I only give this three stars because my roast came out a bit tough. I probably should have put it on the bottom of the slow cooker instead of a bed of vegetables. I like my roast to be able to be pulled apart by fork and I had to cut it with a knife. Will try again and tweak the recipe some more to make the sauce a little more gravy like.

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic
This was a good recipe and like others have posted, it's a good idea to cut down the Balsamic Vinegar unless you really like it. I only used an 1/8 cup and also added 1/4 cup of Zinfandel. Otherwise this was a good recipe and the chicken was moist and delicious - I will definitely try and make this again.

Mushroom Blue Cheese Turkey Burgers
This recipe was a great hit with my dinner guests. I did modify the recipe a bit as some of the others mentioned. I added an egg and bread crumbs to ensure the burgers would stay together - worked like a charm and everyone raved! I used the crumbled bleu cheese in the patty mixture and let me tell you how good that was :) I will definitely be making this recipe again!
