I think you have to expect that this is really more of a sweet baked bean dish with ground beef. I use one pound of ground beef(my pref.), double the beans, always add onions and brown sugar (instead of molasses, which are fine)less pepper, cayenne pepper to taste, 1/2 of a green pepper and get great results. Adults and children generally like it very much. Just don't expect it to taste like typical chili-- it isn't supposed too :) Great leftovers if there are any!
