Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2006
I think it's the apple cider vinegar that makes this dish fabulous! It's the best chicken teriyaki I've ever made. Thanks for sharing!

Curried Coconut Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2006
This is my second comment on this recipe - still love it, it has become a staple dinner for us. I made it yesterday and did two things differently: (1) I used diced pork instead of chicken, and (2) I added frozen peas. I LOVED how the pork changed the flavor, and the peas were excellent. Enjoy! --------------------- Original Comment: WOW! This recipe was fabulous! I loved the tomatoes in it -- I used whole stewed tomatoes vs diced. It was a little on the sweet side, so next time I'll probably 1/2 the sugar, but otherwise this dish was perfect! My kids, 8 & 11, wanted seconds, and with my 8yr old, that's saying a lot!! Good job!

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2006
My family and I 'liked' this recipe, and we all decided on 3 stars. I'm really surprised because it has a 5star rating from so many reviewers so I expected another 5star quality meal. I followed the recipe exactly, but maybe the sauce just did not meet to our tastes. I felt that the golden mushroom soup was too strong, and mixing that with white wine did not improve on it. I probably won't be making this again, but if I did I would use chicken thighs instead of breast meat, or if I used breasts I would lower the cooking time so the breasts would be a little more tender. For those who are more keen on casseroles and thick-sauce flavored dishes, this would probably work for you!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2006
WOW! This was GREAT! I made this recipe as the main dish for the Junior League meeting I was hosting. (http://www.jlcoloradosprings.org) Everyone thought it was amazing! My family loved it, too. We liked the sauce poured over rice. YUM! Veggies were carrot sticks...nice contrast to the main dish. Enjoy!

Black Bean and Salsa Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2006
HOLY COW! I didn't expect this recipe to be so incredible! My kids, ages 11 and 8, even loved it and raved about it. We added crushed tortilla chips as a topping -- I mixed the sour cream into each individual bowl before serving. Definitely only puree one can of beans, and add the other to the soup in the pan for heating. YUM!

Citrus Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2006
This is the first time I've brined a turkey, and I have to say it was the most moist ever! Instead of using a lemon and an orange, I used 1/2 cup Real Lemon juice, and 3/4 cup orange juice. Also used coarse kosher salt. Turned out delicious!

Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2006
This was GREAT! I omitted the salt because I brined the turkey before roasting. Next time I will double the wine. Yummy veggies...

Slow Cooker Split Pea Sausage Soup

Reviewed: May 10, 2007
Wow, this recipe was fabulous! I placed my leftover ham bone in the pot to cook w/everything, and at the end of the day I took the ham bone out, pulled off the remaing ham and returned the ham to the pot. I also took out all the chunks (all the veggies), minus the sausage and ham, and blended in a blender, added it back to the soup and mixed it in w/the liquid and ham & sausage. Oh, also used 4 cups chicken broth and 6 cups water. Heavenly, and absolutely filling. My kids both LOVED this meal!!!

Seasoned Cornish Hens

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2008
This was a pretty good recipe - liked by the entire family. I LOVED how the cornish hens browned...they looked beautiful - 5star restaurant-quality presentation. I didn't especially like the oyster sauce flavor, but the hens were very moist. I took the advice of many commenters and added Chinese 5spice, olive oil; cut the hens in half before cooking; marinated them 3 hours in ziploc bags in the fridge. Cooked this with the following menu: Zucchini & Tomato Bowtie Pasta, Seafood Quiche...and Watermelon. :-)

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2008
These were amazing cookies!! Not only were they convenient to make (no chilling), everything about them was perfect. They were soft and delicious. Just a few notes: I added an additional tsp of vanilla. On half of the batches I made I dipped the cookies in sugar before putting them in the oven. The sugar made them crispier on the outside, but the softness within was unchanged. Also, for maximum softness, serve straight out of the oven. These cookies cold are rather hard...

White Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
-This is Diana's 14-yr-old daughter- These cookies were amazing! I made them for drama class at school and followed the recipe exactly. They were a hit!! All of my friends were raving about them. Even my friend who absolutely HATES oatmeal fell in love with them. These are cookies that will be loved by everyone, indeed.

Easy Lemon Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
-Diana's daughter- Absolutely amazing!! I followed the advice of some of the reviewers here (the store was out of lemon cake mix) and used yellow cake mix instead. They all turned out beautifully! Everyone I gave them to raved about it. I also used 1 T lemon juice and some lemon zest on the first batch. This is too little lemon taste, and I recommend using more lemon juice if not using lemon cake mix. I will definitely be making these again.

Italian Sausage, Peppers, and Onions

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
Very good! I added 1/2 pkg of tofu (cubed), and, since tofu takes on the flavor of what it's cooked with, it really added to the tastiness of the dish. We served this over rice, kind of like an asian stirfry. No leftovers!

Chi Chi Dango Mochi

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
I thought I would really love this recipe because I grew up on Okinawa and have been looking for that "pink mochi" we could buy in the markets. My son loved this recipe, but he wasn't raised on "original mochi". For me, I thought the taste had too much coconut flavoring (from the milk obviously), and it's not the original mochi taste I yearn for and miss. I gave it 4 stars only because my kids liked it.

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
I thought the recipe was tasty, but my kids did not. I think the cornstarch called for was too much and made the sauce really thick and goopy. I simmered the chicken in the sauce which also made the crispy covering not-so-crispy...if I did this again, I would just pour the sauce over the chicken after it was done.

Egg Drop Soup II

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
This was DELICIOUS and so easy to make! I added 1.5 T cornstarch to thicken it more, a few drops of sesame oil as previously suggested, and some soy sauce (unmeasured). The result was super yummy, and kids loved it. I think w/enough pepper (I accidently put in more than called for) it is great for colds!

Quick and Easy Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2009
Based on some of the reviews I thought this recipe would be great - I gave it only 3 stars. I have to admit it was quick and easy, though. I took the advice of some of the readers and added 1/4 c milk, 1/2 c sour cream, sauted the onions in olive oil before adding, 5 cheese slices and 1/4 block of colby jack. After mixing it all, I transferred to a casserole dish, mixed bread crumbs (fresh) and butter together to make a crunchy topping and baked for about 20min in a 350 oven. The kids ate their entire servings, so they liked it, but there were no raving reviews from my family.

Slovak Stuffed Cabbage

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2009
I thought this was a good recipe that froze well. The taste is very European so it may be an acquired taste. I made this for a family from Romania and they loved it...could not stop eating it. I will keep the recipe in my recipe box, but probably won't be making it for my family again in the near future.

California Chicken Spaghetti

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2009
Great dish!!! Absolutely 5 stars, and my daughter just packed it for her lunch tomorrow before we've even cleared the table. Alterations: as suggested, used the entire box of angel hair pasta, used 1 15oz can of seasoned diced tomatoes (I might use 2 cans next time), only 1/2 T of Emeril's Bayou seasoning. To serve, I placed all the pasta into a large pasta dish, poured the chicken/tomatoe mix on top, added a layer of asiago cheese (very thin layer), and then covered it with regular feta. Delicious!! :-)
