Almond/Apricot Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
I absolutely love this cake and got tons of compliments last time I made. I've made it with apricot and apple butter fillings. Both were delicious!

Light Oat Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2007
The first time I ever made bread I used this recipe and it turned out fantastic despite my inexperience. I've made it twice since then, and it's turned out perfect both times.

Authentic German Bread (Bauernbrot)

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2007
I absolutely loved this recipe. I lived in Germany for a year and absolutely fell in love with the bread there. Ever since I've returned to the States, I've been wishing that I could purchase German-style bread, but it's nearly impossible to find. But now i don't have to find it because this recipe tastes so authentic. I do, however, want to share the three things that I did differently with this recipe. First, I used my own super tasty and entirely local sourdough starter so I didn't follow the first part of the recipe about creating a starter. Second, I halved the recipe because it sounded like so much bread. To do this, I had to make an educated guess on how much to use of the sourdough starter I already have. I went with two cups, and it seems to have worked perfectly. Third, I made the dough using the dough cycle of my breadmaker. After the cycle ended, I shaped the bread and let it rise for an additional hour. Even with these changes, the bread turned out amazing and like an authentic loaf of Bauernbrot.

Sourdough Starter IV

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2007
This starter worked great, and I had a nice starter after letting it sit for 4 days. I can't wait to let it age and develop even more tasty sourdough flavor!

Plain and Simple Sourdough Bread

This bread is definitely tasty, but it is too salty for me. Next time I make it, I will reduce the salt.

Meatball Alphabet Soup

Reviewed: May 22, 2007
This was super excellent. I loved the tomato-ey broth and the meatballs. I used rotini instead of alphbets, which I really liked.

Glazed Meatloaf I

This meatloaf was excellent. I used ground turkey instead of beef and it tasted delicious. Also, I used breadcrumbs instead of pieces of bread.

Barley and Mushrooms with Beans

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2006
Barley plus mushrooms equals tasty delicious. I sauteed all the ingredients on the stove and then transferred everything to a baking dish and cooked it the rest of the way in the oven so I didn't have to keep watching and stirring. I cooked it for an hour and fifteen minutes at 375 degrees and it came out perfectly.

Cheesy Tuna Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2006
This was pretty good, but you definitely need to add some additional liquid. I added about 3/4 of a can of chicken broth and it came out a nice consistency.

The Best Vegetarian Chili in the World

This is a great chili and was a hit with all of my friends, vegetarian and non-veggie alike. I added a lot more cumin than recommended but otherwise followed the recipes exactly.

Lentil and Smoked Sausage Soup

Reviewed: May 24, 2006
I liked this soup, and my boyfriend loved it. He said it was as good as the chicken tortilla soup recipe we found on allrecipes and I think that soup is one of the best ever. Anyways, I made the recipe as is, except for that I added a little sugar to compliment the tomatos.

Barley Bake

Reviewed: May 14, 2006
I loved this recipe. I served it up with apple porkchops, and it was a big hit with my guests. It's tastes somewhat like a risotta but the barley gives it a unique look. The pine nuts were tasty, but not necessary. If you want to keep the cost of the dish down, you could probably substitute with another type of nut without really hurting the dish.

Hot and Spicy Tofu

Reviewed: May 13, 2006
This recipe was decent, but it could have used a little more flavor for my liking. I didn't have any peanut oil on hand so I used veggie oil and sesame seed oil as a replacement, and I think that was the problem.
