To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
To die for is precisely right! BY far the most amazing blueberry muffin recipe I have ever indulged in. I changed NOTHING. All I did was double the recipe so I could use the whole pint of fresh berries... and I've had to chase my children away from the platter of finished muffins all day. This recipe has been kept and shared already! BRAVA!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
EXCELLENT start... I did change a thing or two; used 1 can each of cream of chicken and cream of mushroom as another user did... used 1 cup of chicken broth as someone else did as well. Then "dashed" in savory, rosemary, thyme, and tarragon... just sprinkled on top without measuring. Mixe dit up. Cooked on low (from frozen chicken breasts) for 6 hours. Cut the biscuits in quarters to cook on high for another 1.5 hours... and then had to restrain my family because I didn't want anyone trampled in the kitchen. The scent alone drove them crazy! I saved this one and shared it out immediately! With garlic mashed potatoes and green beans on the side this made a cold and wet day warm and cozy!

Slow-Cooked Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2009
A very good basic beginning. I did make a few changes...used 1 onion instead of 2, removed the green pepper and substituted in their place a 16 oz jar of salsa (pick your poison on that one!). I also added a good dash each of sage, cumin, and red pepper flakes and then doubled the salt. This was a HUGE hit over nacho chips with melted cheddar and a dollop of sour cream.

Egg Noodles

These were just the right flavour though I think I will need to learn how to make them not quite so tough or thick. Otherwise. They were a hit for supper!

Todd's Famous Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2009
Splendid! I didn't bother waiting the hour with the batter myself since it would have "spent" the baking powder but these were a real WINNER of a recipe in my house!

Easy Creamy Pork Tenderloin

Flavourful and creamy though the pork was a little dry. I may try this again and tweak it a bit.

Bacon Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2009
WONDERFUL! I can't give it 5 stars because I added and adjusted, such as the suggestion to use canned biscuits instead of Bisquik, and I had to thicken the sauce with cornstarch. Otherwise. A WONDERFUL dish that did remarkable things to plain old every day chicken.

Creamy Ranch Pork Chops and Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2009
This made pork chops GOOD food again! I can't give 5 stars since I adjusted... I fried 4 strips of bacon first, retained the bacon on the side and dumped out all bu 1 Tbsp of the drippings. Fried the chops in THAT instead of plain vegetable oil. I also added 1 Tbsp of minced garlic and used only 1/8 cup of milk, then substituted regular ranch dressing instead of the packet. This was a HUGE hit at my house and goes in the permanent file.

Cinnamon Rolls II

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
5 Stars but I will still cut the amount of white sugar in the dough JUSt a bit. Otherwise these are the cinnamon rolls I always DREAMED of!

Pleasant Pork Chops

There is no improving on an EXCELLENT and simple pork chop recipe that makes 3 kids and one adult scrape the bottom of the pan and wish there was more.

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Flawless. Simple, error free, tender and flavourful chicken roast every time. It's nuts how the simplest thing resulted in the best chicken I've ever cooked. Thank you from the bottom of the bowl!

Laura's Unbelievable Chicken and Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
You know I can't say enough good about it. All I added beyond the original recipe was minced garlic. The nice part is, various people in my family won't tolerate the sauce or mixing stuff together or spinach... so I was able to pull out THEIR portion as I went thru this and by the end, those of us who actually love to eat FOOD, enjoyed this rich, tender, and flavourful dish without the griping of others "forced" to eat it. Perfect!

This recipe tops the one that comes with the Kitchenaid pasta roller set by MILES! Smooth, silky, beautifully responsive dough that makes pasta so tender my children BEG for it again. Brava!

Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2009
THIS recipe earned a "print out and keep" in my old brass recipe box. Provided you remember to handle the dough as little as possible, you get a delicious and flaky biscuit with rich flavour. A little old Southern trick... melt some butter and as you finish cutting each one, a brief dip of the top in the melted butter before setting it on the baking pan, adds a certain something special to your finished biscuit.

Roasted Potato and Garlic Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2009
I really wish my kids had liked this better because I personally found this to be a delightful recipe for potatoe salad with ZIP and appeal. It made my mouth water just MAKING it... eating it was the reward. It doesn't taste as wonderful after it sits overnight but as far as it goes when FRESH... out of this world!

Garlic Cheese Chicken Rollups

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2009
I'd give this one five stars if I didn't have to adjust a thing, but I DID make my own cream cheese filling from spring onion, cream cheese, a bit of minced garlic, and white pepper. Aside from that... a HUGE hit at my house and another recipe I took the time to print out and add to my old brass recipe box.
