Quinoa and Black Beans

Reviewed: May 16, 2013
This was great. I made it last minute as an additional side dish because we had more for dinner than I expected. This receipe is great as written, but versitile enough that you can add/swap whatever you like. Personally, I wouldn't change anything. I did use chicken broth for the veggie broth because that's all I had, and used one can of black beans (that's all I had on hand). Next time I will definately use two cans of beans just because we enjoy them. Thanks for the great receipe.

Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo

Reviewed: May 13, 2013
This was pretty good. I doubled the sauce because I had a little more shrimp and I also added some crabmeat that I had on hand. Also, added a little sherry and a very small dash of cayenne pepper. Threw in some cooked broccoli. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star was because the texture of the sauce was a little gritty, I think it may have been from the parmesan cheese. Maybe because I used the store brand of the stuff in the green can? I will try this again and buy the good parmesan cheese that I will grate myself.

Rustic Tuscan Soup with Kale

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2013
This was surprisingly simple to make and very good. The croutons made the soup; the salt from the cheese and the crushed red pepper added to extra flavor to make this a 5 star soup. I did make just a couple of changes because it was what I had on hand; diced tomatoes with basil, oregano, garlic and spinach in place of the kale. Can't wait to try it again with the kale. Definately a keeper.

Beau Monde Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2012
My family has loved this recipe for over 40 years! It was a family tradition for the holidays when I was growing up and now it's a tradition with my children. I add 2 tablespoons dried minced onion and make sure to let the dip chill in the fridge for a couple of hours, mixing every once in a while. I do mine the night before and it's fantastic the next day. The Beau Monde is what makes this dip so unique so don't leave it out. Also, make sure to use mayo and not salad dressing (Miracle Whip). Enjoy!

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Made as written except only had a 2.5 chuck roast. YUM. Will definately make again for sandwiches and/or serve as a roast with veggies. Thanks for a great recipe.

Normal Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2011
I made exactly as written; my husband said it was ok, but I didn't care for it. Would try it agin with some modifications like pre-browning, spices. Not a bad recipe, for my own personal tastes I would need to tweak it to make it again.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
YUM! I had to make a couple of changes, just because I didn't have all ingredients on hand. I used 6 small boneless, skinless chicken breasts, 1 can cream/chick and 1 can cream/celery, about 1/4 tsp black pepper and two hand fulls of the dried minced onion; probably about 1/2 - 3/4 cup. Put all in my oval crockpot and added chicken broth to cover. Put on high for 4 hours then shredded chicken, put back in crockpot and added 1/2 a 10oz. bag of frozen peas/carrots. I didn't have any ref. biscuits, so I made some biscuits in my oven and also served some white rice for those that didn't like biscuits. Everyone raved about how good it was and my husband could not believe that it was made with only a few ingredients. This is definately one that is going in my dinner rotation.

I have been making this dish for over 15 years and it always gets rave reviews from friends and family. Most like it even better then the usual green bean holiday casserole. It is definately a dish to try. Enjoy!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2008
Yum! 5 Stars - Easy to prepare, used up tons of leftovers, very economical, and everyone loved it. Took only a few minutes to prepare, threw everything in my crockpot (except milk, butter, flour), used chicken broth instead of water 'cause i had some to use up, and cooked on high for 3 hours, then I made up the flour, milk, butter as directed and added to crockpot. I also had tossed in some frozen peas i wanted to use up too. I liked the addition of a dash of hot sauce, my husband liked the cheese and kids loved it without adding anything else. Will definately make again. Thank you for such a great recipes.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2007
Excellent! I do cut back on the amount of peppers when I am using just one large chicken. Also, every time I have made this, the chicken is done in about 3 - 3 1/2 hours, don't think I would want to go the full 5 hours.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2007
GREAT! I gave it 5 stars, because even though I made a couple of changes, it was one of the best soups I've ever made. Like others, I added a can of black beans, chicken broth instead of water, and I used uncooked chicken and let it cook in the soup, then shredded it when done. Is a keeper!

Roasted Red Bell Pepper Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2007
This was ok, but not great. I may have done something wrong, might try it again. The soup was very bland and even extra spices, pasta, etc. couldn't help it. Ended up tossing it out.

Chicken Tetrazzini IV

this was very good and all 6 people in the family liked it, even my picky eaters. The only thing i changed was that I used bow tie pasta instead of speg., also doubled the sauce and added mushrooms. Will definately make again.

Pumpkin Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2006
This was surpisingly very good. I did add a can of black beans and also added a package of McCormick Chili seasoning for extra flavor. The pumpkin added something "a little extra"; no one could figure out what it was, but they definately liked the flavor. Will be making this on a regular basis.

Chicken Lasagna I

This has become a favorite in my house. Great to use up leftover chicken. I do add layer of spinach. Even better the next day. Definately a keeper and one that I cook at least 2-3 times a month

Colorful Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2006
This was awesome. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because i had to do some tweaking. I added more water because it was too thick after I added the potato flakes, and I also added a can of creamed corn and a pinch of caynne pepper. Husband loved it and it made a great meal on a cold day. Will definately make again.

Slow Cooker Roast Beef

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2006
This was fantastic. I cooked a frozen roast for 22 hours. Used worestershire sauce instead of soy sauce. After 12 hours I checked the gravey and thought it a little bland; added 2 tablespoons of A-1 sauce and a can of cream of mushroom soup. The end result was extremely tender, moist meat and an excellent gravey. Will make again using the soy sauce. Thanks for the recipe.
