Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2006
These were good pancakes, but unfortunately they didn't taste quite as good as they smelled! Nice and fluffy. I went exactly by the recipe, even though a lot of reviewers seemed to modify amounts, etc. I have a lot of pumpkin to use up so I be making these again!

Not bad. Easy to make on a weeknight, I served mine over brown rice.

Lentil Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2006
I have made this recipe a number of times now. This recipe takes no times to make and is a much healthier alternative to the original! I add a little grated cheese and sour cream as garnish. I will make this over and over, thanks!

Orzo with Parmesan and Basil

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2006
Delicious side dish! So easy to make. This is the first time I've cooked with orzo, and I really enjoyed it! I took some suggestions and added a clove of crushed garlic with the butter, and some light cream after cooking. I didn't have fresh basil but dried basil tasted just fine.

Sesame Beef

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2006
Great recipe! I made a few changes: only had time to marinate for 1/2 hr (still took on flavour) cooked the beef without the marinade, then added cornstarch with the sauce after. Reduced sugar by half and used half white and half brown sugar. Also added carrots and broccoli to the stir fry and served it all on egg noodles. YUM!!!

Lentil Soup I

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2006
While not a pretty soup, was very tasty and satisfying. I have never put mashed potatoes in a soup before, but I thought it was a great addition. I added an onion and 2 cloves of garlic, and used a small amount of powdered cloves instead of whole cloves.

Broccoli and Rice Stir Fry

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2006
I didn't expect greatness from this recipe but I was pleasantly suprised! Very simple but I really enjoyed it. I used brown rice and added sesame oil to the cooking water to give more of an Asian taste. Also used fresh broccoli. Thanks for a tasty and simple recipe!

My Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2006
I loved this chili! So tasty! I added a tin of mushrooms and some extra chili powder. Also for some extra goodness I topped it with a little shredded cheddar cheese and a dollop of sour cream, and served with tortilla chips. My boyfriend loved it. I will make this again!

Great, easy recipe! I added a little salt, pepper, and oregano to the sauce near the end to perk up the flavour. Will make again!

Chickpea and Eggplant Stew

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2006
Great use of leftover eggplant! Not spectacular but a nice tasting stew that got better after a few days. I used a cup of tomato sauce instead of diced tomatoes and added chicken boullion, omitting any additional salt. Also omitted salami just because I didn't have it! Probably would have been delicious with it.

Curried Honey Mustard Chicken

This was a very tasty dish and super easy. I don't love dijon mustard but mixed with the other flavours it was great. I will definitely make it again.

Health Nut Blueberry Muffins

Very yummy! I used skim milk instead of buttermilk, and wheat bran instead of wheat germ. Love them! I'm sure they will become a staple.

Sri Lankan Potato Curry

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2006
I made this recipe using the powdered version of all the spices (exept garlic) and it turned out great. I used the same measurements for the powdered spices. Next time though I will microwave the potatoes longer so they are basically done - I found the recipe took a lot longer as the potatoes took a while to cook in the pan. But still so tasty!
