French Onion Dip From Scratch

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2012
Quick n easy! I keep forgetting to buy onion dip for football watching, so came looking for something simple. I made this even easier by just mixing a spoon of sour cream and a spoon of mayo with salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. Could not have been easier and just as good as an over-processed store dip. I will try it with caramelized onions next time.

Chewy Peanut Butter Brownies

Don't bake longer than 25 minutes! I'm glad I read some reviews and didn't bake any longer. Also glad I didn't overbeat eggs, just mixed til incorporated, and used 1 egg and 1 egg yolk. Made a simple butter, powdered sugar, cocoa, milk frosting. Family likes them a lot.

Vegan version was very good. Used palm shortening for margarine and flax seed for egg. Kids loved them.

Five-Minute Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2011
Easy, delicious. I used arrowroot instead of corn starch due to a corn allergy. I would have liked better direction, though I realized it's not needed. The starch and sugar start to thicken, you throw in the berries and let them get warm and coated and then put it in a crust. Stick it in the fridge and enjoy after dinner. This reminds me of a strawberry pie with the berries in tact and just a sweet topping mixed in. This is a true to the fruit, not processed pie.

Chocolate Banana Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
Made allergen free and turned out great. Quite a few changes, of course, and cut in half - flax seed meal for egg, canola oil, 1 cup sorghum flour, 1/2 cup potato starch, and 2T corn flour, 1/2 t xanthan, added 1 t salt, 1 t baking powder, heavy shake cinnamon and 1 t espresso powder. Instead of fake sour cream, I added a couple tablespoons of coconut milk. Baked at 350, 8 mini loaf pan, 30 minutes.

Fudge Puddles

These were just okay. Followed recipe exactly, but baking time is too long. Too much dough made cookies puff up and over sides like muffins. Dough was very sticky and difficult to work with.

Cornucopia

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
Great, easy, inexpensive, impressive addition to Thanksgiving table. Costs about $2/roll of breadsticks and only needed 3 including extras to make a bowl for dip. I didn't have large roll of foil, so just had to guess at measurements. Followed some suggestions not spraying foil and not using wash at ends of breadsticks - couldn't get foil out and a couple ends came apart, but no big deal. Used bed of kale underneath and stuck one leaf inside to hide foil. Guests liked it. Didn't bake entire time. Took about 15 minutes to put together and baked for about 30 minutes. Next time I will try to make it shorter and fatter. Will definitely make again next year.

Awesome cookies! Followed recipe except used combination of creamy and chunky peanut butter. I can't believe how good these are cold. Wow. Now I will make choc chip cookies with the egg yolks for the kids. These are mine!

Aunties Wild Huckleberry Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2009
I was nervous about this recipe because of the effort in getting 4 cups of huckleberries. I will not use a T of vinegar if I ever make this again. The vinegar was very strong when the pie first cooled, but not too bad this morning. I still don't think it needs it, or maybe just a touch of lemon juice. These berries are not sweet to begin with. I also used minute tapioca which I think worked fine. I didn't think to brush my crust with cream or egg, and wish it would have been suggested in the recipe. I didn't need to cover crust to keep from overbrowning, which I did and it's pale. It's okay alone, better with ice cream.

Scrumptious Frosted Fudgy Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2009
Very good. I cut in half using 2 eggs for an 8 x 8 pan, baked for about 28 minutes. I really like the chewy corners. I did not use frosting. They definitely don't need it. I may cut sugar next time for more dark chocolate taste. I will most likely use this recipe again, and may try the frosting.

Blueberry Cream Muffins

Great recipe - only cut in half, didn't change a thing. Had a little batter left over. They were great out of the oven and great hours later without anything on them. I've been trying blueberry muffin recipes for a long time and this will be the one I use from now on.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: May 17, 2009
I want to say not to change anything because I loved this recipe, but I combined my two mixtures before pouring into slightly (5 minute) pre-baked bottom crust without egg white wash and baked at 400 degrees instead of 425. I had enough to put some mix in a couple little ramekins for kids with only top crust. I used this website's basic flaky pie crust - which I love. Will make again!

Basic Flaky Pie Crust

Love this recipe for fruit pies and chicken pot pie. Instead of a pastry blender someone suggested using a single butter knife and it works great. I am so happy to have found a recipe that makes me seem like a crust expert. Don't change anything!

Great last-minute dinner idea. I just plugged in chicken and tomatoes, and here was the perfect quick easy recipe. My husband loved it. I used dried basil instead of fresh. Thanks for a great go-to dinner.

Tiramisu Layer Cake

Very good. Impressive without too much work. The coffee will run off the top of the cake layers because of the smooth finish, so trim to level or turn on top. I also put coffee in two layers and increased coffee strength. My mom loves it and my two picky kids love it.

Good basic choc chip cookie recipe. A little too "white" for me. I guess I need more brown sugar and a little WW flour. I used 1 cup of chips and it was plenty.

very good! I used a choc graham crust, but oreo would be better, I think. Pretty quick - put in freezer for just over an hour. Grated some unsweetened choc on top to make it look nice.
