My Brother The Cook

My brother loved to cook, but he was not meticulous in the kitchen.  For measuring, he used a coffee cup, a handful, or a pinch.  He never worried about making a mess, even when stuff fell on the floor.  He made soups and stews, homemade egg noodles, meat, chicken, fish and savory dishes of every type.  ... in the kitchen, on a grill, over a campfire.

But now he is gone.  Passed away early morning on Dec 30th.  We will miss you bro.

I am so sorry for your loss! My brother is and was my first love... he is more of an eater than a cook...but I couldn't imagine my life without him! Again, I'm so very sorry for your loss and will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers!

Clover, I am saddened to hear your brother has passed. There is nothing in the world like the love between a sister and a brother. May God heal your broken heart and bring to mind all the precious memories you shared.

Thank you for all your nice thoughts. @ Candice - You are right. He was a bit of a character. I/we are fine. I just wanted to write something somewhere. Thanks again.

My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook changes with the seasons or my moods. Currently salads have my interest - with bean in them. At the start of 2014 I began eating flexitarian style - that's semi-vegetarian - for heart health. I have found this change to be fairly easy, and I my testing is showing much improvement.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I was growing up we always made popcorn balls together as a family for Christmas. And with my own kids, we made frosted cookies for Santa on Christmas eve.
My cooking triumphs
The first Thanksgiving dinner that I made for my husband and I felt like an accomplishment because I had Never made a big dinner by myself before.
My cooking tragedies
Many, I'm sure, but I don't dwell on them.
