Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2008
Simple and delicious! Made recipe pretty much just a stated.I used bulk mild italian sausage, which has no casing, so easy to work with. As another reviewer suggested, I drained out most of the oil after cooking sausage. I didn't have fresh parsley, so I used 1 1/2 Tbsp dry. Added pasta into the pan and tossed with about 1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese. This is a keeper! Mmm,Mmm good!

Easy Apple Coleslaw

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2008
I loved it! The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I made changes based on other reviews. I added 2 Tbsp of Cider vinegar to the dressing. I tossed granny smith and zestar apple chunks in lemon juice to keep from browning. I used a bag of classic cole slaw mix(has shredded carrots in it already), tossed in slivered almonds and some mixed blend raisins(cran, golden, cherry & blue) from Trader Joe's. Also, I think next time I'd use a little less brown sugar. I give my version 5 stars! Hope this is useful information!

Chicken Pa Nang

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2008
Fantastic! So good we had no leftovers! Very easy to make. Served it with brown rice. Next time I will add a little more curry paste, as we like ours a little spicier.

Sugar Snap Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2008
Really tasty! I liked the the crunch & flavor of the pea pods. Nice change from the usual celery in potato salad. Recipe did not specify if dill was fresh or dry. I used fresh-one large tablespoon. My only suggestion would be to use less dijon mustard. Although I like the spiciness of it, it kinda overpowers/kills the flavor of the dill & garlic. Will make again, but just reduce the amount of dijon mustard next time.

Tasty and so easy! I like how simple & flavorful this meal is. I added onions & used green & red bell peppers. Also threw in some liquid smoke & ground black pepper. Will make this over & over again.

Spinach and Orzo Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2008
This is so simple and good! I have made several times, and make 1/2 the recipe, as it makes quite a bit. I use fresh basil, and as others suggested, add salt & black pepper. I use tomato & basil feta, and a 6 oz bag of spinach(as that is how it is sold). I also use slivered toasted almonds, as I don't care for pine nuts. I do agree with some other reviewers that it isn't very "pretty" looking- Maybe I'll try cherry tomatoes or some chopped red bell pepper next time.

Classic Carbonara with Pancetta

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2008
Disappointed. I found this when searching for recipes that had ingredients I had on hand. I followed the recipe just as written. I found it to be rich & bland. Maybe I will give it a try again sometime and take another reviewer suggestion of adding garlic. Sorry.

Chicken Wing Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2008
This is so good..and disappears fast at a potluck or gathering! I took advice from other reviewers-used 1/2 cup ranch, 1/2 cup blue cheese dressing, used colby/jack cheese, and 1 cup of hot sauce. Also, I cooked 2 large boneless chicken breasts(1.5-2lbs)stove top with a little oil, salt & pepper. I shredded the chicken instead of dicing it. We just like it better shredded. And, more chicken makes for a meatier dip. Oh, and I just mixed it all ingredients together in a large bowl, transfered to a crock pot, and heated til cheese was melted and dip was hot. I have made it several times, and everyone asks for the recipe! I'm really glad I found this one! Thanks!!

Chicken-Stuffed Shells with Sherry Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
Wow, this was really good! It was time consuming, but worth it. I made it on a weekend night, when I had a little more time. I pretty much made exactly as instructed. I used a little more garlic and cheese, just cuz I like it! I thought it might be a little too rich, so the last 15 minutes I topped dish with dollops of marinara sauce- oh maybe 1/2 cup toal. My sauce was really thick, so I think this helped from dish being too rich & dry. Will definitely make again!

Garlic-Shrimp Angel Hair

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
"This is a winner"-these were my Husband's words. I had no Broccoli, so I used pea pods instead. That is the only change I made. We liked how the hot pepper sauce gave this rich creamy sauce a little kick.

Butternut and Apple Harvest Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
Mmmmm, this soup is good! I made the recipe pretty much as directed. The only changes were that I used roasted butternut squash I had made the day before, and I added @ 2 tsp of light brown sugar. I will definitely be making this one again!

Penne Salami Bake

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2007
This was surprisingly tasty. Seemed like an odd combo, but ingredients did work well together. It was flavorful, spicy, and easy to make. I did an ingredient search of leftovers I had in the fridge, and this recipe came up. All Recipes came through again! Thanks for sharing!

Sunny Layered Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2007
I love this salad! So easy to make and a crowd pleaser. Prefect for Potlucks or whenever you need to bring a little something to a get together. Great for vegetarians too. I make few modifications- I use Colby/Jack cheese, just cuz I like a little more flavor. For the dressing, I add a little seseame oil and reduce the sugar just a bit. I also like to saute the almonds with a little honey & seseame seeds instead of sugar. It makes almost like a candied brittle. Yum! Thanks for a great recipe!

Pumpkin Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2007
This is really good! Like other users, I found it to be kinda thick & mushy. So, I added about almost a cup broth(instead of water) and a can of garbanzo beans(drained & rinsed). I think that really helped the consistency. I was going to add cumin & cinnamon, as others suggested, but I didn't want to drown out the pumpkin flavor. I figured if I was going to do that, why bother with the pumpkin. I did use 1 tbsp chili powder, and 1/2 tbsp HOT chili powder, just cuz I like it a little spicier.

Heavenly Potatoes and Ham

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2006
Creamy, cheesey, delcious! Very fattening, for sure! I took the suggestions of other reviewers and used 3 lbs of potatoes and more ham(no extra salt needed). I also used cream of celery soup, and a little garlic. It also seemed like a whole lotta butter. I think I will cut back on that next time. Also, I added milk as another reviwer suggested, but I think that made it too soupy. Will omit that next time. I like it thick & creamy!

Herb, Garlic and Bacon Pork Loin

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2006
My Husband LOVED this! I added potatoes & carrots last 30 minutes. I also used fresh herbs, as I had on hand, which is how I found this recipe to begin with. I was looking for a recipe I could use the fresh herbs with before they went bad. I used shallots instead of pearl onions. Again, what I had in fridge. Will definately makke this again!

Delicious and EASY! Next time I think I would reduce honey to 1 TBSP. A little too sweet.

Chicken Breasts with Herb Basting Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2006
Yummy! Chicken was very moist, juicy, and flavorful. As another reviewer suggested, i added a little lemon zest. Also, I had some fresh rosemary & sage, so I used that instead of dry. I let the chicken marinate all day while I was at work and I used fresh organic chicken. Maybe that is why is was so moist & juicy! I might brown it first next time for a browner, crispier skin. Again, as another reviewer suggested. But we thought it was great cooked as directed.
