Soba with Toasted Sesame Seed Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2007
I'm from Hawaii and have had tons of soba. This recipe is different and great! I added a sliced red pepper and used more broccoli. I steamed both slightly. Decreased sesame seeds to 1/3c, doubled soy, and added 1 tsp. hoisin and some crushed red pepper. Tasted okay warm but I let sit in the fridge and it made an awesome cold soba! Delicious. My husband stopped in from work today just to have a bowl. Even my 14 month old will eat the noodles, which is miraculous. Thank you!

Vegetable Lo Mein

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2007
Five stars after a few changes. I used more garlic, increased the sauce by about 50% except for the hoisin. i also omitted the honey. I added a dash of fish sauce, dash of dark soy, and sesame seeds. I left out the bean sprouts and added water chestnuts and broccoli. While cooking I added more soy sauce to taste. Tossed with linguini and it turned out superb! It's now one my dinner guest staples. Everyone loves it!

Roasted Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2007
Not bad. I used tenderloin chops and cookde for less time. I should've used a tart apple but I had a fuji in the fridge. That tasted odd. I didn't care for it as a whole, but my husband liked it.

Green Bean Okazu

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2007
I used frozen beans. It was way too sweet, so I tried to compensate with soy sauce and sherry which produced inedible results. If you try this, start with half the sugar and add more if needed.

Baked Kielbasa and Potatoes in Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2007
So delicious! Used white potatoes, added a red bell, an onion, and pineapple chunks. Would've added mushrooms but the dish was already overflowing. doubled spices, and left out salt. Cooked at 350 uncovered for an hour then 375 covered for 45 minutes. Made a side of JP big dady biscuits and ate way too much for dinner. Hubby ate to much too. And we both can't wait to eat it for lunch! Thank you! I will make this for years to come.

Pasta with Tuna, Sun-Dried Tomatoes, Artichoke Hearts, Lemon, and White Wine

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2007
Soooo good! I used chicken breast instead of tuna (don't like tuna), used a whole onion, added mushrooms, and used a heaping 1 cup of sundried tomatoes (we love them). I also mined some cloves of garlic and cooked with the onions. In addition to the thyme I used some oregano, italian seaoning, rosemary, and basil about 1 tsp. each. I love this recipe, I can't wait to make it again!

I laso used 1/2c packed brown sugar and 1/2c white plus cut down on the margarine. Came out wonderfully, she asked for my recipe after one bite. Thanks!
