Slow Cooker Pepper Steak II

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
I used red and yellow peppers instead of green, just personal preference. Even my preschooler ate it, which is saying something!

Caramel Shortbread Squares

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
These are the best! We made them at our Annual Mother-Daughter Holiday Baking Day, and they were my favorite the of everything... and we bake lots of goodies! They are simple to make, and cut nicely with a warm knife to put on goodie plates. They hold up fine at room temperature, another huge plus. I used semi-sweet chips on the top because I forgot to buy milk chocolate, and they were still good. Might try dark chocolate on the top like someone else suggested. YUM!

Butterscotch Gingerbread Cookies

Yum! And super easy. Made these at our Annual Mother-Daugher Holiday Baking Day, and they were a hit! I used only half the suggested amount of butterscotch chips, and that was plenty.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

These were yummy! Make sure you read the whole recipe, though. This batch makes three jelly-roll pans full of bars! Great if you have a bake sale or something, or if you want to have a bunch of bars in the freezer for a rainy day.

Anise Seed Borrachio Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2005
These are great, delicate little tea cookies. Yum! I made them exactly as stated in the recipe, except that it seemed to work a lot better to remove them from the baking sheet right away. (I let the first batch cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes and some of them cracked when I removed them.) Five stars for this unique recipe!

Mexican Bean Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2004
My contribution to Thanksgiving dinner each year is to make a dish my vegetartian sister can eat. This one was a hit, and even the meat eaters liked it. I made the filling the night before and refrigerated it, then put the pie together and baked it the next morning. I did add extra cheese and salsa as other reviewers suggested, and mixed all of the ingredients together rather than layering them. Great, simple dish!

Cinderellas

I am conflicted over how many stars to give this recipe, as they are *soo* yummy, yet I had trouble forming the mix into balls. There was no way they would have stood up to being dipped in the chocolate - they just weren't that sturdy. What I ended up doing was mushing a ball together and putting it in a little truffle foil and pouring chocolate candy coating (also called chocolate almond bark) over the top. Don't let the mashed potatoes gross you out - you can't taste them at all. I'll definitely play with this one and leave more comments if I figure out how to get them to form better balls.

Hoagie Bake

This recipe has become a regular at our house. My husband loves it "as is" with the greasier meats, but I prefer it with leaner turkey and ham so I make it half and half and it works out perfectly. Tastes great, quick to make, easy to modify... five stars!

Easy Minute Steaks

This is a super-easy recipe that has become a regular at our house. I often use just plain old beef broth to cook the cube steaks in. Makes a good "comfort meal" with mashed potatoes and gravy.

Easy and Delicious Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2003
This was fantastic served over biscuits! My husband and I both liked it, which hardly ever happens. I did add only 3 oz. of cream cheese instead of the 8 oz. called for, but that was the only change I made. I will definitely make this again and again!
