About this Cook
Cooking is not a hoby to me. It's a way of life!! It relaxes me and fulfills me. I travel a lot and it is always good to get back home and in the kitchen. If there aren't leftovers in the fridge I hear about it from my office staff. The first thing they ask in the morning is "so-what did you have for dinner last night!"
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook things than require every pot, pan and burner in the place to be going at the same time!! But quick and easy stuff is also nice. Hearty pots of soup and stew are also a fav. I am just starting to get into baking more than I used to Must be because I am being called on more often to bring dessert to Kiwanis!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother was the cook in the family. And when she couldn't teach me how to knit after a week of agrivation, she decided to take me into the kitchen and teach me how to make meatloaf. A cook was born. I contined to hone my skills at home, as my mom was a full time teacher and really didn't cook much. Call it self preservation. She really was a terrible cook! (sorry Mom!!) She has gotten better over the years, and I have really improved!!
My cooking triumphs
Made a peanut butter cream cheese tort on a whim for a superbowl party one year, and that is all I was asked to bring to every party for 3 straight years!
My cooking tragedies
One easter years ago, I was making the traditional ham dinner and was having the darnest time getting the glaze to stick. I did the best I could and stuck it in the oven to bake. When time was up, out it came with very little glaze left on it. Went to carve it, and yup-you gussed it. There was a plastic overwrap on it that I had neglected to remove!! However, it WAS one of the moistest hams I have ever baked...

Beef Stew V
this stew is perfect for me for the very reason some others were disapointed. It is more like a soup. Which is what my partner likes with dumplings. I like a thick gravy with biscuts. With this I can have it both ways. Simply remove some of the liquid befoe making the dumplings and thicken it for me and then good to go to make his!! Delish and stops us from fighting the war over the stew!!

Gooey Butter Cake I
oh my gosh!!! This is delish. I added some rum extract to the batter and mixed some coconut in the topping. to die for. almost too rich to eat, but it disappeared in a heartbeat at a potluck. just dosen't look "pretty"
