Bacon Wrapped Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2011
pretty good, but definitely precook the bacon before wrapping, not till it's hard and crumbly, but enough. This pairs really well with a mashed potato recipe you can use the left over bacon with. Fry diced onion in bacon grease, make mashed potatoes mix in fried onions, crumbled bacon, and cheese. Yum!

Burrito Pie

mexican lasagna! The kids liked alot! It was a great meal to make with leftovers from taco night. I didn't have refried beans which would have probably made this really good.

Holiday Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2011
I did not care for this! The dried cranberries sounded so good (since I like grapes in chix salad), but it wasn't that appealing. The taste was very bland besides the cranberries which were too overpowering.

Chicken Puffs

so good! I softened up the butter and cream cheese so they blended together. perfect for an appetizer, especially in the fall/winter. Very comfort food tasting. I had to bake them 4 minutes longer than recipe called for. A eggwash on top would probably be wonderful!

Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2011
The end result for the peach filling was very good! The crust was just ok. I think next time I would use a brown sugar or a crumb topping. The bottom crust STUCK to the pan. Even though the crust was loaded with shortening, I think a little greasing of the pan would have helped alot. I had to chizzel away at the bottom crust to get this served.

Cheesy Hash Browns

not bad, but not nearly as good as other cheesy hash brown recipes that have butter cracker toppings. This recipe is a good simple recipe for a dinner side, but I wouldn't serve for a party.

Peanut Butter Fudge IV

Very very good, but very soft texture. Must be kept cool or it will goo all over your hands. But SO creamy and peanut buttery!

Candied Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2011
used 4 big sweet potatoes. Baked them in 350 oven for 40 minutes, cooled and slipped skins right off. Sauce was so good, yet very sweet after too much. Dish was good, just very rich and sweet.

Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2011
excellent recipe to use up those big zucchinis from the garden! Definitely more of a chocolate CAKE than a brownie. I don't have a grater so I use a veggie peeler to shred the zucchini, then chop alittle finer with a knife. next time I make this I might add a cup of semi sweet choc chips to the batter.

Best Ever Jalapeno Poppers

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2011
awesome! I had about 8 jalepenos from my garden that needed using up. I only used half the cream cheese/cheese/bacon bits called for, and I could have halved that again cause I had ALOT left over. I only dipped in milk and breaded them once and they still were awesome. I'm sure repeating that step would have made them even better, but you don't really need too. My only recommendation is to start frying them on the cheese stuffed side first so that the mix doesn't get too melty and fall out when you flip them in the oil. Very good recipe! Will be using this one again!

Beef Burgundy III

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
Very good. I didn't have golden mushroom soup, so I used plain cream of mushroom. I also added fresh garlic and some garlic salt and pepper because it was a little more bland than I normally like. Also, I used beef tenderloin coated with flour instead of sirloin. I doubled the sauce and used merlot. The way I made it was a 4 star, but I'm giving 5 stars because I can imagine the golden mushroom soup would be alot better!

Very, Very, Very Good Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2011
I followed this recipe to a T. All ingrediants were room temp, the heavy cream was "stirred" in not beaten in, and I did boiling water up 1/2 the springform pan inside the roasting pan. I baked at 350 for almost 2 hours and it still wasn't done! Then I let sit in the oven at 300 for another 25 minutes. I allowed it to cool in the oven and then cooled overnight. The taste was ok. This is not a dense cheesecake, and I personally don't think it had much flavor. I'm usually very liberal with my reviews, but for the time and money I put into this recipe, yikes...I don't think this one will be made again. Is the original bake temp and time for a conventional oven or a conVECTION oven. That is the only thing I can think of for why the recipes finished time is so off.

my family loved this. It was very good, but I think next time I won't add as much sour cream.I also doubled the chicken to 4 breasts cooked then diced. I served it with parslied carrots, white rice and croissants. It was yummy!

Sophie's Zucchini Bread

so good! I added allspice and choc. chips. It's a great recipe to make use of the giant zucchini in the garden. Just make sure you scoop out all the seedy part in them. I just shaved pieces with a veggie peeler since I don't have a grater.

awesome...but I made it differently, following others advice. I sauted garlic, onion, green pepper, and zucchini, drained excess liquid off and then baked in speghetti sauce with mozzarella. Very good. even my young kids enjoyed it.

BBQ Country Style Ribs

Reviewed: May 16, 2011
Not a big fan of ribs cooked this way. They weren't nearly as "fall apart" tender as when they are in the slow cooker all day. In fact these weren't tender much at all. I needed a steak knife to cut them. I wouldn't make country style ribs this way ever again.

Sausage Brunch Casserole

ehhhh... it was ok. I added a few more eggs to give it alittle more substance. Had to cook much longer than the recipe calls for. I also baked the cresent rolls for 6 minutes before adding the egg/sausage/cheese mixture. This was ok. My kids didn't care for it. I needed ketchup ontop mine to give it flavor.

Chocolate Eclair Cake

Reviewed: May 12, 2011
So simple and delicious! I used honey graham crackers, french vanilla pudding and I only put in a 12 oz container of cool whip which was MORE than enough. I wouldn't use as much as this recipe calls for. You won't have room in your pan, and it would taste way to coolwhipey. I used a whole box of graham crackers plus an extra sleeve. I used the choc. frosting and it was EXCELLENT! Don't think using that will make it not good. I microwaved it for about 30 seconds which made the frosting into a perfect melted chocolate liquid. Then I just poured it ontop the cake and it smoothed onto it perfectly on it's own. Definitely make this the night before so the graham crackers have time to soften in the pudding mix. Everyone loved this! My kids are already begging for me to make it again.
