Indian Sabji Recipe

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2014
This was really quite delicious. I added cauliflower and onion to this, but otherwise made it as stated, and served it with garlic basmati rice and tofu, and boy does this a hearty meal make! The cilantro is a lovely touch, and while the favors all worked great together, next time I will be adding more chile powder and coriander (personal taste). It's a very easy dish to prepare too if your new to Indian cooking but are still looking for an authentic dish. Makes excellent leftovers!

Mango-Strawberry Salsa

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2012
I've made this a few times, and really love with a little jalapeno. It's great as a salsa with cinnamon pita chips, but it also tastes great on white rice and broiled tilapia!

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2012
This bread is epically awesome! I've made it several times, sometimes as is, sometimes with chocolate chips or different kind of nuts, and every time it turns out incredible. Very moist, and wonderful flavor, it's delicious as is, and it's quite easy to modify and play around with. This is, by far, my favorite zucchini bread recipe.

Cabbage Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2012
I make this every once in a while, and whenever I do, I always forget how delicious it is. It's wonderful as is, but I find myself increasing the amount of cabbage, vinegar, mustard, and I add in a lot of pepper. It's very easy to customize, and it tastes amazing topping with some homemade coleslaw (we love our cabbage here). Highly recommended!

Broccoli and Cauliflower Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2010
This is a perfect comfort food recipe, and works great as both a main dish and a side dish. It works as a great vegetarian dish too, if you replace the cream of chicken soup with cream of broccoli! I highly recommend this dish to anyone who loves hearty stick-to-your-insides meals.

Tomatillo Guacamole

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
I'll admit that I don't make this particular recipes, my boyfriend does, but it blows my mind every single time he does. It's a frequent request around here, and whenever it's made for parties and get togethers, it is always the first that gets eaten up, no matter how large a batch he makes. If you love guac, you're going to love this recipe.

Bleu Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
I really wanted to love this recipe, but it was just okay. The sauce was missing something to it, whether it be another kind of cheese to round out the flavour a bit more, or something else, but I will admit that I was a little disappointed with this. I made it for a group of friends, and everyone ate it, and there weren’t any leftovers, however this is definitely one of those recipes that you need to play around with before you find a dish that's to your liking. I recommend it to anyone who loves blue cheese, but if you're looking at the ingredients thinking that you want to add something else to it, trust that instinct, and add whatever it is that you're thinking about.

Raspberry Pain au Chocolat (Raspberry Chocolate Croissants)

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
These little guys are easy to make, taste great, and look impressive! The only thing I'd say to watch out for, is making sure you don't make the slices too long on the top of the pastry, or the raspberry preserves will spill out and make a mess of everything (a few of my guys didn't quite make it).

Heavenly Shortbread

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
This is a good, solid shortbread recipe. I wasn’t blown away by it, but it turned out exactly the way shortbread should. If you want your basic can't-go-wrong shortbread, definitely use this recipe.

Ham and Brussels Sprout Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
Highly recommended! I would have given it five stars, but I did change the recipe a bit. I increased the amount of garlic, ham, and sauerkraut, and I'm glad that I did. I think if I followed the recipe exactly, it would have tasted a little more like a jazzed up Brussels sprout side dish, as opposed to the main meal. I also sprinkled on some extra parmesan and asiago on the top of the dish along with the bread crumbs, as I am a cheese fiend. Definitely will be making this again!

Pasta Shells with Portobello Mushrooms and Asparagus in Boursin Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
I'm glad I tried making this dish, but it wasn't quite as good as I was hoping. It was tasty, but lacked that wow factor that everyone else seems to be raving about. All in all, not bad, but not something I'd go out of my way to make again.

Artichoke and Sun-Dried Tomato Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2009
This turned out great! I doubled the recipe for the sauce, and served it with goat cheese tortellini. My boyfriend liked it so much that he wanted to take the leftovers to his mother (who is quite the cook) to try. Will make again!

Enchiladas Suizas

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
I made this recipe exactly as stated, and I’m glad I did! It came out fabulous; I wouldn’t change a thing about it. I served it with the extra salsa verde, some salsa, sour cream, and shredded lettuce on the side, which added some nice pops of color. The enchiladas have a really great flavour and texture, and are very filling. I will *definitely* be making this again. Highly recommended!

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
These are, hands down, the best brownies I’ve ever had in my life. The recipe is 100% perfect, and makes a great base for other desserts! I’ve also made these brownies with caramel chips (nice and gooey!), and peanut butter chips, and will definitely make all three variations again. These are also great with a homemade cream cheese frosting on it. All in all? The perfect brownie.
