About this Cook
I love to bake. When I have a day at home and I want to relax this is what I do. I love to try new recipes!
My favorite things to cook
Anything chocolate. My current favorite is trying to track down the very best bread pudding recipe.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family is portuguese and every Christmas we make portuguese sweet bread and during the easter season we make malasadas, which is like a portuguese donut. We've been doing this since I was a kid and we always mix both doughs by hand.
My cooking triumphs
My great grandmother used to make the best molasses cookies. When she died she failed to leave a copy of the recipe. I was thrilled when after many attempts I finally figured it out.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I ever made stir fry, I left the shrimp and veggies to both marinade for hours. It was awful!! It tasted like pure salt and everything was mushy.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies
Some of the worst brownies I have ever had. Even mynkids thought they were too sweet.

Chicken Pot Pie IX
This was fantastic! All three of my boys had seconds and could not stop raving. The only changes I made were to omit all forms of celery (can't stand the taste). I added a tsp of crushed garlic to the onion and then added a can of cream of chicken soup to the sauce. Wonderful flavor and plenty of sauce. What a kid can't wait for me to make it again.
