Marshmallow Fondant

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
This was my first fondant and it was an easy and tasty experience. Very easy to work with. I did add a couple drops of almond extract also, and it turned out great.

Buckeye Balls II

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
I loved this recipe and made it twice as written and it tasted like sin (VERY good). My family raved and wanted the recipe. I saw where many people complained about the sugar amount etc..and dryness. Well I will say that firstly, confectioners sugar and peanut butter are two things that are temperature and/or humidity sensitive. The sugar is sensitive to moisture and as we know..peanut butter is totally different at different temps. So maybe that's why different people had different experiences?..who knows. Anywho...I made this recipe as stated and wouldn't change a thing or reduce the sugar, because if I'm going to eat sweets I go big or go home!

Kim's Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
This salad was good in my opinion but not great. I am a macaroni salad lover (I'm the only person in my household that does), but this to me seemed like in spite of the jalapenos it was missing an element. But, it was good overall, and I would make it again in a "I already have the ingredients on hand" situation.

Reuben Sandwich II

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
I'm giving this recipe 5 stars even though I myself, did not like it. However, I think I just don't like corned beef and never realized (I was raised a vegetarian and some meats are still news to me). My Hub and picky son loved it however, and I could tell I should have liked it, I just didn't. :)

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
Anything with bacon is a religious experience in my book, and despite the simplicity of this recipe, it was truly "divine".

Easy Cheese Ball II

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
This is the first cheese ball I have made, and it was defiantly quick, easy, and tasty. Much better than the ones I had purchased in the grocery store deli.

Cabbage Beef Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
This is a good soup, but not great one in my opinion. It's basically chili, with cabbage mixed in. Cumin of course is a very powerful spice that tends to "chilify" soups and that is defiantly what happened here. Due to the fact that a peeve of mine is people not following the recipe at all..and giving it a bad review...I did follow the recipe in spite of my cumin concerns. The only thing I did differently was I added beef stock in place of the water/bullion cubes, because bullion cubes are very salty and I have high BP...and low sodium stock is a good substitute. However it was good, and this is a good way to work more veggies into your diet. My 10 year old son even enjoyed it and he typically hates tomato, cabbage, and beans - so go figure. lol So basically, if you like chili, and like cabbage, you will enjoy this soup, but I've had much better. Thanks for the recipe!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I used this recipe with "The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies." The icing was definatly better than the cookie. It tasted fine - a good basic cookie icing. I'm not sure if I would say they come out any more shiny than an icing made without Corn Syrup, and it does take awhile to harden - but a good icing.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I came across this recipe while searching for a sugar cookie recipe to make decorated Christmas cookies. Each year I try a different recipe or tweak an old recipe in search for "the cookie recipe" in hopes to recreate the cookies of my childhood. I was hopeful with this recipe because of the great reviews, however I must agree with the last reviewer who said these cookies were bland. Considering I added 1 teaspoon of almond extract and 1 teaspoon of dried orange peel (I followed the recipe exactly - I just added those two things), I believe they would have been next to tasteless if I had not added any extras. While the dough was easy to work with, they were just very bland and also burned easily. With these cookies 2 minutes makes the difference between a barely done cookie and a charred disk. Granted, my husband was the one in charge of watching the cookies in the oven and he is easily distracted. lol If you want a cookie thats easy to make, work with, and can be easily mass produced these are fine. But if your looking for a special heirloom cookie this falls way short. Thanks for the recipe though, my kids had great fun making and decorating them!

Rasta Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2008
While this was good..it wasen't that much different than typical a spagetti/chicken dish in my opinion. Due to the fact I like spicey food I added the full amount of red pepper, and an addictional teaspoon of caribbian jerk seasoning to mine, even though I only made a half recipe. I often add onions/garlic/green peppers to "normal" spagetti or pasta dishes anyhow ...so this was pretty much the same..I even added a little extra curry powder but didnt taste it much. Once again, good..but not outstanding in my opinion.

Paul's Southern California BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2007
Excellent recipe. Goes well on nearly everything. I am not a fan of bottled bbq sauce so I looked for an alternative and this more than met my expectations.
