Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2007
YUMMY!! I used a 1.5 pd roast and let it cook for 2.25 hrs. I wish I had time to cook it a little longer as it still had the slightest, tiniest beer taste (I hate beer) but I think another half an hour would have been perfect.

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2007
This is a great Tortilla soup!!! I will definitely be making again. I added some black beans for consistency and it was so yummy. I also shredded the chicken, added it back in, and let it simmer another 15 minutes to absorb the flavor. Perfect!

Jenn's Out Of This World Spaghetti and Meatballs

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2007
Please follow others advice and cut the sugar in half! I didn't and our spaghetti was SUPER sweet although we still loved it. Overall it is very easy to make and tasted great. My meatballs weren't as crumbly as others stated, maybe I overcooked them?

Colombian Stewed Flank

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2007
I must admit that I didn't have beef boullion (the store was out) so I tried to substitute with beef broth and it didn't work out. I'm not sure if this was the only reason we weren't huge fans, but my husband and I felt like it was missing something. It definitely needed more flavoring, I will try to add more if I make this again.

Corn Dip II

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2007
This dip is great!! I took it to a party and everyone loved it. It was one of the first times where there was not a scoop left of the dip I brought. I even had a few people ask me for the recipe. I liked it cold, my husband liked it hot. I heated it at the party in a glass dish and let it sit there - even after it cooled people were digging in.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2007
This is the first bread that I made and it came out perfect!! I can't keep my hands off of it. It is extremely moist - I made 2/3 the recipe and baked for 70 min. I used canola oil instead of veg oil and 1/3 brown sugar (2/3 white) since I ran out of sugar. This recipe is perfect!!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2007
I'm not a big meatloaf fan but my husband is so I make it to please him every now and then. I must say, this was the best meatloaf I have ever made. I've made at least a half dozen recipes and my husband agreed that this was the best. I don't mind meatloaf so much anymore (although I will never love it) and will make it more often. Goes great with garlic mashed potatoes.

Perfect Baked Potato

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2007
This recipe is awesome! Much better than the normal way to cook them without oil/salt. Just one word of caution, I put alum foil on the very bottom of oven (we live in Germany with TINY ovens) and the dripping oil smoked ALOT. I was nervous, but they still turned out awesome.

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2007
I have made this recipe numerous times over the years and they are amazing. Everyone always raves about them and talks about them months (and even years) later. I follow the recipe exactly except I use strawberry jam due to preferrence. I also use a Pampered chef small cookie scoop to help make them perfectly round. Seriously, this is probably the most popular recipe I have ever made.

Make Ahead Lunch Wraps

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2007
My husband and I LOVE these! They are perfect for when a sandwich just won't cut it. As others stated, I added 1/2 packet of taco seasoning to rice before mixing in beans. I also find they microwave better if they are defrosted first. This isn't required, but it seems to work better if you have the extra time.

Chicken Enchiladas I

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2007
This recipe is great!! I sauteed the onions/peppers after the chicken then added the other ingredients. I will definitely try it next time with the enchilada sauce recipe from this website instead of taco sauce.

Unbelievable Spinach Calzones

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2007
My husband and I LOVE these calzones!! I was nervous about making them for dinner as my husband is a meat-guy but he really enjoyed them. I added a bit of Italian seasonings and used Pilsbury pizza crust. I brushed the tops of the calzones with melted butter mixed with garlic with gave an extra touch. The recipe made four huge calzones with extra filling. I froze the leftover fillings and then used them later stuffed into pasta shells and topped with spagetti sauce (baked covered about 20 min - made enough for 3 people). This was amazing!!

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Secret Recipe

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2007
These potatoes were great but with a few modifications. I cut the recipe down to feed 5 and used fresh roasted garlic. I also added a good bit of milk as we like our potatoes creamier. They still came out VERY thick so I couldn't imagine the consistency without it. Overall we loved them and I will make them again.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2007
This recipe is awesome and is very easy to make. I cut the recipe in half for four people and we still had left overs. The sauce used would be great as a basic spaghetti sauce - I plan on using this recipe a lot in the future. ***Update: This has become my staple spaghetti sauce. I use one can of roasted garlic flavored tomato paste and one regular can. Also, definitely use the sliced mozz cheese, it gives a bettter texture than the shredded. Everyone I have made the lasagna for raves about the dish!!

Rosemary Roasted Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2007
I thought this recipe was very good, but the rosemary was the only thing I tasted. My husband wasn't a big fan for that reason. I only had dried rosemary which may have been a factor. If you LOVE rosemary than this recipe is for you, if not I would keep looking.

Spinach Tomato Tortellini

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2007
I used this sauce recipe over bowties as I'm not a fan of tortellini and it was awesome!! My sauce was a little thin, but I used skim milk and light cream to help with calories/fat. Next time I would add more spinach and and a tiny bit more garlic.****update - it goes great with gnoochi!!

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2007
I used cream of chicken instead of mushrooms (neither my husband nor I like them) and other than that I followed the recipe exactly. I thought the wine was too strong, maybe if I had used a sweeter one. I did not see a reason to double the soup, the recipe makes more than enough gravy. ***UPDATE: I made this using just a tiny bit of wine and my husband loved it! Still did not need to double gravy, and it was so much better.

Cajun Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2007
This is a great recipe for chicken pasta. My husband isn't a big fan of pasta but he said he would definitely want me to make it again. I added a little bit of lemon juice when the chicken was half way cooked and I used half and half. I also left out the green peppers and mushrooms as we don't like either of them. It tasted so wonderful the night I made them, but not so great the next day - it was kind of bland the next day.

Gooey Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2007
****HINT: To be easy on your mixer, let the butter and cream cheese sit out until room temperature, then you will have no problems mixing. I'm a cookie nut but these weren't the best I've had. They were good, but not great. I usually get rave reviews when I bring cookies to picnics but I didn't really get any comments on these. They are nice and moist but bland. **Update: they are awesome using chocolate cake and 1 tsp vanilla.

Grilled Lemon Herb Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2007
This recipe is awesome!! My husband is not a big pork chop or lemon fan but he LOVED these! I've been craving them ever since we made them. They would be great to make for company - they tasted amazing and presented nicely. This will definitely be a staple in our house.
