Rich and Delicious Banana Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2009
Banana Bread is one of my favorite things to bake and I found this recipe when I was out of eggs. I am so impressed at how the loaves turned out I had to add my comments. This is a keeper, easy, moist and yummy! I only added mini chocolate chips.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2009
Any recipe that can make me like Brussel Sprouts deserves 5 stars. I used a clay roasting pan and seasoned the sprouts with vegetable oil, sea salt and pepper and kept an eye on them as the oven was very hot. A big hit with the entire family.

Chunky Monkey Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
Bananas and Chocolate and Brownies Oh My! These Chunky Monkey Brownies are now my family's official favourite treat. Very moist and good banana flavour with the hearty addition of oats make these perfect as a filling treat. I followed recipe with the exception of omitting the nuts due to an allergy. They were delicious even without the added crunch from the nuts. These will be good for the back to school lunch bag...thank you for sharing a delicious recipe.

Oven Roasted Parmesan Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2011
You are going to want to double this recipe. Perfect blending of spices combined with crispy outer edges and soft and tender centres make these roasted potatoes disappear. I followed the recipe exactly except I roasted them on a clay baking sheet. Sour cream is not necessary...these are so good all on their own.

Oatmeal Cookies

Simple and perfect. The classic Oatmeal cookie recipe I have been searching for. Just like Grandma use to make. I made them exactly as written, be careful not to over bake. Must try!

Black Bean Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2012
My first attempt at Gluten free baking and I must say these are GOOD! After reading other reviews I did add extra cocoa powder, a dash of baking powder and omitted the coffee but did sprinkle the top with chocolate chips. Once they were cooked and cooled I put them directly in the fridge for a few hours before cutting them. The texture and taste was a bit different but nobody I served them to guessed there were black beans in the recipe. Next time I need a gluten free dessert I would definitely try this again...very easy to make which is a bonus.

Cavetelli with shrimp and broccoli

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2012
Amazing comfort food at its best. I used fresh broccoli but appreciate footnote comments regarding the good option of using frozen to prevent the sauce from evaporating too much. I used a little less garlic than called for but next time I will follow recipe to a tee...the directions are precise and contribute to the success of this recipe a great deal....will be making this again...and again.

Caprese on a Stick

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2012
These were tasty and presented well. I did use balsamic dressing instead of olive oil and also followed some previous reviewers by using marinated mozzarella for more flavour. Couldn't be simpler to make and everyone loved them. Give them a try...

Redneck Caviar

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2012
This is a winner! I'm so glad I made a double batch of this....first day we had it with tortilla chips as a appetizer, second day with grilled halibut on the side. It only gets better with age. I cut the sugar in half and it worked fine for us....thank you belle pepper for a wonderful recipe

Make-Ahead Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2012
This is terrific first thing in the morning with your coffee. Making it the night before makes it so much easier to have the fresh baked goodness bright and early. I omitted the pecans due to allergy and added a bit more cinnamon...the whole house smelled great as an added bonus.

Cookies....All Dressed

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2012
We loved these at our house. A substantial cookie that you can easily add your own favourites to. For my first batch I added raisins and sunflower seeds instead of pecans because of nut allergy. I used my hands to mix the dough on the advice of a previous review and found the dough easy to work with. Loved the texture and taste of this cookie...will make again.

Sweet and Sour Slaw

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2012
This makes a terrific mayo free slaw with lots of flavour. The sweet and sour really came through in the taste I found and only gets better with time. The recipe is well written and easy to follow...I doubled it and happy I did.

My Most Requested Dinner Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2012
This salad presents so nicely and tastes terrific....We really enjoyed the combined flavor of the bacon, mustard and blue cheese. I used regular bacon and romaine lettuce with grape tomatoes and red onion. Hubby already asking when I'll make it again. Thank you Saveur631 for sharing a real winner!

Pasta e Fagioli a la Chez Ivano

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2012
WE loved this so much I'm just sorry I waited so long to try it. Made it just as read but on a smaller scale and with just a bit less garlic. It was a little time consuming to prepare but judging from how quickly it all disappeared, well worth every minute. Adding the pasta and beans for the last 20 minutes or so was a good idea, they stayed more "al dente" that way and the flavour was really very good. I would even consider cooking the pasta separately from the sauce next time...and I will be making a much bigger pot next time to freeze some.

Orange Cornish Hen for Two

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2012
Tried this for the first time for company and it was a success. So simple, classic and tasty. The only changes I made to the recipe included adding a bit more pepper due to personal preferences and lowering the temperature to 350 degrees F for the last 30 - 40 minutes. Served this with Basmati rice and glazed carrots....Very tender and tasty and great for company....I forgot to mention I did make this for 4 people so I adjusted the ingredients accordingly.

Crispy Rosemary Chicken and Fries

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2012
Easy one pot meal that can be tweaked to your liking with more or less of the spice and oil. This has become one of our "go to" chicken meals. The potatoes turn out crispy and delicious every time so now I usually double the amount. Serve with a green salad and garlic bread.....never any complaints here. Enjoy!

Potato Chip Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2013
Chicken was moist even without the marinating which I skipped because I didn't have time. My family seemed to enjoy this recipe and I let my kids choose the flavour of chips. I dipped the chicken in melted butter and coated with sour cream and onion chips. The flavour of the chips really didn't come through but it didn't seem to matter to anyone. I added salt and pepper and a dash of garlic powder to each piece of chicken and baked on a foil covered baking sheet. 35 mins was plenty for the bone in chicken thighs we had. Will try again with different type of chip. If you like breaded chicken it's worth a try.

Doreen's Ham Slices on the Grill

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2013
This is simple and delicious...the horseradish is such a pleasant surprise and for us the key to a 5 star review. Next time less brown sugar and more horseradish for our preferences....my son liked it and he doesn't think he likes horseradish...so you know it's not overpowering in this recipe...

Mike's Mushroom Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2013
Cheese, Mushrooms and garlic together on fresh bread with just the right amount of decadent butter, heated perfectly crispy...this was a huge hit at our house. If you love cheesy garlic bread and mushrooms this is a winner...We enjoyed it for the first time today with leftover beef stew. I knew my crowd would be happy with a strong garlic flavour so I added a bit extra.
