Spaghetti Carbonara II

Reviewed: May 15, 2014
My Husband loves carbonara and I have made it several times…so it's hard for me to follow a recipe and resist the urge to tweak it to his preferences. I did make this as written with the exception of the addition of the white wine.. I added a bit of melted butter instead. I did mix the cheese and eggs together off the heat as a previous reviewer suggested. The sauce was nice and creamy.

Hot 'n' Spicy Buffalo Chicken Salad

Reviewed: May 3, 2014
Excellent !!!!! I'm already planning to make this again… Such an easy and tasty meal that everyone loved. Winning combination. I used Frank's RedHot sauce which is my Hubby's favourite addition to just about everything and I grilled the chicken… Thank you Celeste for sharing a great dish.

Spicy Egg Salad English Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2014
We really enjoyed this recipe…The addition of horseradish along with honey is not a combination I would have come up with on my own. The addition of hot sauce, cayenne and my favourite, black pepper blended together for a very flavourful egg sandwich. Served this for dinner with hash browns… Will make this again.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2014
Oats and raisins with a hint of cinnamon and a slightly chewy texture… is there anything better? These cookies remind me of the old fashioned chewy oatmeal cookies my Grandmother use to make… I did follow the other review and halved the recipe and I added in a few chocolate chips…

German Apple Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2014
I couldn't be happier with how this cake turned out. It baked perfectly with the directions provided and was moist and delicious. I added a bit extra vanilla and was generous with the cinnamon…smells amazing as it's baking. I was a bit concerned the batter was so thick but to my pleasant surprise it cooked so nicely and thoroughly while staying moist. I will make this one again.

West Coast Trail Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2014
Now this is a good cookie!! The recipe is adaptable to individual tastes..I went with extra chocolate chips and dried cranberries and used Oat Bran in place of the flaxseed meal. The author of this recipe thoughtfully included suggestions for substitutions and baking directions. Thank you Westcoastmom for a wonderful treat.

Grandma Louise's shrimp casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2014
I had to adjust this recipe to make a smaller serving so I did a bit of estimating as to portions…my hubby was thrilled with this dish. He loves olives and pimentos and found the combination with the shrimp to be delicious. I used low sodium chicken stock that I had on hand and the casserole came out very nice and moist. Excellent BA..thank you.

I was looking for a creamy soup to make our favourite grilled cheese a meal and I stumbled onto this little gem. It is simple and excellent. I followed the directions exactly with the addition of a pinch of fresh parsley. I also pureed the tomatoes with my hand blender just a bit. Thank you Duboo for a lovely soup.

These were so easy to make…I used gingerbread oreos and semi sweet chocolate and topped them with vanilla flavoured baking chips… These were the first to go from the tray of treats I brought to work… I wouldn't hesitate to make these again with different variations of cookie and chocolate. Very sweet!

Panera's Lemon Chicken Orzo Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2013
I made this delightful soup with leftover chicken from a roast…I added a bit of zest from the lemon and increased the amount of broth by about 1 cup. Hubby loves orzo and was thrilled with that addition. Thanks to Deb C for a nice comforting soup.

Quick Banana Bread for Marty

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2013
This was so quick and easy to prepare and pop in the oven…I skipped the walnuts due to a nut allergy but I think they would add a wonderful touch to this slightly sweeter version of banana bread. I added some mini vanilla flavoured chocolate chips to the mix..followed the directions for baking..rotating the pans after 20 mins… and viola… couldn't have been easier.. I will make this again.

These are a great treat for the Potato Latke lover…I liked the simplicity of the recipe and really appreciated the advice to make sure and drain the excess liquid from the potatoes…. RISI E BISI, a quick and simple soup.(rice and pea soup)

Made this for my husband with the thought that it would be a nice side with dinner. He was on his own one night for dinner and I left it for him to have with some pork he would grill…As it turned out..he liked it so much he ate the entire thing himself…I bet he licked the bowl too…I added mushrooms instead of peas and also included garlic…I followed manella's directions carefully and viola….happy hubby. Thank you for a wonderful comforting soup.

This is simply GREAT... If you like yogurt and fruit together, which I do you might really like the addition of a little chocolate crunch from the crushed graham crackers... Looking forward to having this over and over...

Autumn Apple Chicken Sausage & Butternut Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2013
I knew when I saw the ingredients that this recipe would impress my hubby and I was right. I used apple turkey sausage instead of chicken just because they were easier for me to find and everything else was as per recipe instructions. I added some chopped red onion and for personal taste cut the maple syrup in half. This is a comforting, delicious meal for the fall that is so simple to prepare...Thank you Deb
