Spicy Zucchini Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2014
I had a good feeling about these cookies even before I baked them. The spicy cake like texture combined with oats and in my case the addition of a few mini chocolate chips made for a very good cookie. The cloves are key for me in this recipe…I did add a pinch of salt and tried to squeeze out some moisture from the zucchini…. I wish I made a double batch…. Next time!!!

Quick and Easy Carrot and Chickpea Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2014
This is a lovely chickpea carrot salad. Having a daughter who loves chickpeas, I have made many different salads with them. What makes this salad extra special for us is the addition of fresh parsley to the delicious dressing. I added extra cumin and red onion for personal preference…. This salad is a great example of simple ingredients coming together for a healthy and tasty dish. Manella… thank you for sharing...

Grilled Rosemary Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2014
We loved the blend of rosemary and lemon and garlic for this chicken.. The best part for me was the mustard which I wouldn't have come up with on my own.. Nice juicy chicken breasts on the grill were the result and we paired them with a greek salad…. Excellent! Thanks Semigourmet.

Costa del Sol Barbeque Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2014
This sauce made an excellent partner for the BBQ ribs we had. I enjoyed following this recipe word for word with the exception of omitting the red chili pepper. Next time I will make sure I have all the ingredients on hand. Don knows what he's doing..this was delightful. Look out shrimp…you're next!

Chocolate Banana Smoothie

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2014
After making this recipe a few times I prefer to use a frozen banana and a generous extra bit of chocolate syrup with the milk and skip the ice…the texture is more to our liking this way… chocolate and banana is a classic combination and if you like that you'll like this….

Simple Broiled Haddock

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2014
The spices really appeal to me in this recipe….I was looking to jazz up the haddock filets I had and this fit the bill. For my own tastes I added a bit extra cayenne pepper and used half the butter. Under the broiler my filets were done in 8 minutes with a nice slightly crispy edge… I look forward to making this healthy dish again.

Cool Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2014
Cucumber salad as I remember it! It wasn't until I sampled this after putting it together and refrigerating it that I realized this tasted just like Mom use to make…and Grandma before her. Can't go wrong with this classic cucumber salad.

No-Sugar-Added Blueberry and Banana Wheat Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2014
Love the texture of these muffins…and didn't really miss the sugar. I did add some vanilla but otherwise followed the recipe with no changes… I would make these again with other combinations of fruit like raspberries and mini chocolate chips added to the ripe banana. Great with tea or coffee too.

Pork Chop Grill

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2014
This recipe delivered the most tender and juicy grilled pork chops we have ever had. I was looking for a marinade for bone in pork chops and luckily found Marianne's. Hubby was impressed although he tried to say it was his skill with the grill that made the chops so flavourful…we both know it was this marinade. I added some minced garlic and otherwise followed the directions fully. A real keeper for us.

Lawn Mower Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2014
I've made this tasty crowd pleasing salad so many times I can do it from memory now. The sweet and salty flavour with the delicate crunch of the noodles makes a great side dish for just about anything. I have to omit the nuts due to allergy and usually substitute craisins or raisins. Thanks Molly for such a great salad.

Perfect Roasted Potatoes with Garlic and Onion

Reviewed: May 25, 2014
Excellent roasted potatoes… The directions make this recipe top notch… I followed them exactly with the exception of having to use dried herbs. I learned something valuable about salting only after the potatoes are out of the oven. Delicious…thank you westcoastmom for sharing your recipe.

Raspberry-OJ-Banana Smoothie

If you like raspberries, this smoothie delivers great flavour. I left out the honey and used frozen fruit and didn't need ice cubes… I could have this every day. Excellent!

Spaghetti Carbonara II

Reviewed: May 15, 2014
My Husband loves carbonara and I have made it several times…so it's hard for me to follow a recipe and resist the urge to tweak it to his preferences. I did make this as written with the exception of the addition of the white wine.. I added a bit of melted butter instead. I did mix the cheese and eggs together off the heat as a previous reviewer suggested. The sauce was nice and creamy.

Hot 'n' Spicy Buffalo Chicken Salad

Reviewed: May 3, 2014
Excellent !!!!! I'm already planning to make this again… Such an easy and tasty meal that everyone loved. Winning combination. I used Frank's RedHot sauce which is my Hubby's favourite addition to just about everything and I grilled the chicken… Thank you Celeste for sharing a great dish.

Spicy Egg Salad English Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2014
We really enjoyed this recipe…The addition of horseradish along with honey is not a combination I would have come up with on my own. The addition of hot sauce, cayenne and my favourite, black pepper blended together for a very flavourful egg sandwich. Served this for dinner with hash browns… Will make this again.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2014
Oats and raisins with a hint of cinnamon and a slightly chewy texture… is there anything better? These cookies remind me of the old fashioned chewy oatmeal cookies my Grandmother use to make… I did follow the other review and halved the recipe and I added in a few chocolate chips…
