I learned most of my cooking skills from my mother. Over the past year, we both have enjoyed learning more from food network cooks like Paula Deen and Giada de Laurentiis.
My favorite things to cook
Simple healthy meals like fish or chicken on the barbecue with rice and fresh steamed vegetables. Creating new baked goods and casseroles are fun too!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We love coeur a la creme at Valentine's Day, baked ham with a pinapple custard at Easter, Chili at Souperbowl time, turkey at Thanksgiving with a variety of side dishes, and Revellion for Christmas Eve. The women do the cooking and the men clean up (some do a little of each.)
My cooking triumphs
Successful souffle, krumkakke, crepes, merangue and creation of many new dishes like Nutty Crispy Delights (a healthy version of Baklava), Creamy chicken Burritos, Baked Chicken with Zucchini, Spinach-Tater Cassterole and Cherry Tomato Delights to mention a few.
