My Kids
About this Cook
Married mom of four. 2 of the 4 will eat just about anything. Husband and other 2 very very picky! We also have 2 dogs (Emma and Charlie), 1 kitty (Ripple), 2 birds (Louie and Eggbert) and 2 hamsters (Cheeto and Frito). I work in accounting and I realize numbers make a lot of sense to me. I'm not very good at "eyeballing" measurements.
My favorite things to cook
Anything with pasta or bread. My kids will eat pretty much anything fried and/or dipped. Not much cooking to me, but it makes them happy so it makes me happy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom would always make huge batches of candy and cookies at Xmas, still does actually. When we were little (I'm the youngest of 5 girls), we would all help her, now our kids get to help grandma every year and they love it almost as much as we did.
My cooking triumphs
I don't know about calling these triumphs but they're a few of the things I make that everyone seems to like. Lasagna, fried chicken, garlic cheese biscuits, chocolate chip cookies, and an italian-type pasta salad.
My cooking tragedies
Hot oil for burritos, stepped away, fire in the kitchen, burned cabinets and walls, and I didn't even get to eat the burritos!!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies
I just made a batch of these cookies and I think they are terrific! I had one right out of the oven (ok, two!) I made them exactly as written. Followed a few tips but didn't change the recipe. I used parchment paper on my cookie sheets and used powdered sugar instead of flour while rolling/cutting. I refrigerated the dough for about and hour and a half before cutting them. Baked at 400 for 6.5 minutes and they came out great. The ONLY reason these got a 4 instead of a five was because they spread a bit. Not enough to make a difference in the cutters I was using (pumpkins and ghosts) but I'll need to figure out how to prevent that if I want to use more detailed cutters like snowflakes. I wish there was a 4.5 star rating. These are great cookies and easy to make! Thanks for sharing =)

Garlic Cheese Biscuits
I have made these countless times and they always come out good. My alterations this time made them even better. I doubled the cheese (used sharp cheddar). I added 1/2 tsp. garlic powder and 1/2 tsp. onion powder to the dough. I also added a couple of dashes of Old Bay (made a huge difference I think) and some parsley for color. The garlic/butter mixture got some parsley for color too and I brushed it on both before and after baking. TIP: Do not overmix! The less you mix, the lighter they'll be! Sooo Yummy! Edited to add: This made 8 large biscuits for me.

Buffalo Chicken Wings I
I asked my husband to rate these since I don't like buffalo wings. He said they needed a little more kick to them. Not quite hot enough to suit his tastes. He likes the flavor though, just not enough heat.
