About this Cook
I am a stay at home mom of 4. I have 1 girl who is my oldest and 3 boys. My kids are all 6 and younger. We feel that not just dinner time is a good time to spend as a family but all meals are important. We all enjoy cooking together as a family.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are chicken and I love to cook with beef. We all love vegitables and incorportate that into every meal. We love to bake cookies. We all love coming home on Sunday late afternoons to a crockpot brimming with goodness.
My favorite family cooking traditions
As a child I spent a good portion of my summers at my Grandma's house in her kitchen. As an adult and mother I spend alot of my time in the kitchen with my kids coming up with different recipes and cookies. It is a great time to spend with each other and experiment.
My cooking triumphs
I can't really say that I have had a cooking triumph. Other than when we all sit down at the table and everyone enjoys what has been made. That to me is a triumph.
My cooking tragedies
I have had several, but one that really comes to mind is when I made my son Ethans 3rd birthday cake. We were going to have a family get together with the grandparents (my mother in law is the queen of cakes) and I had made this beautiful 2 layer chocolate cake. Well it was still a little warm when I put it together and the top layer just kept sliding away. I, after some thought, used a scewer in the middle to try and hold the cake together. Well when I placed the scewer in the center the layer split in to 3 pieces. I was really upset and ready to give in at any moment as the guest were about to arrive. I looked at my husband in desperation and saw the tub of red licorice. I used the licorice like a fence around the whole cake to hold it together. I really worked!! I will never forget that cake and we still laugh about it today.

Chocolate Scotcheroos
Just like Grandma's. My kids love them so much that Great Grandma makes them whenever we visit. She is now known to my kids as Grandma Cookie. I was so happy to find this recipe, so we can have them, even when we are not at Grandmas!! Thanks!! Oh and I did double the recipe for the frosting, but I think that it would have probably been just fine to do it as written. If doubling the frosting it makes it about 1/2" thick. Really yummy!!
