Slow Cooker Chili II

To me finding a good chili recipe is difficult. Many are missing something making them lack a fullness in the flavor. This is not a spicy recipe. I like that because I have small kids and I think so many recipes cover the fact that they are missing the full flavor by being spicy. "Dull the tastebuds so it seems good". This is nice the way it is or add to it.

Broccoli Cheese Soup

This turned out well. I will probably follow other reviewers suggestions of increasing the cheese. I used left over mashed potatoes to thicken the soup in the place of corn starch. I will do that again. Because I have dietary problems with milk, half & half, cream and sour cream... I will probably try yogurt in the future (made it with out the milk this time).

Amish White Bread

I used this for Bierocks. It was too sweet and I even reduced the amount of sugar. I will make it again as a loaf of bread but I will still decrease the sugar.

Eggplant Parmesan Casserole

This was tasty. I had to make a few changes because I did not have all the ingredients. I added artichoke hearts as I was short one eggplant and I will probably make that change permanent for future times. I also sliced the eggplant more thinly because I needed to get 10 slices from one eggplant. I feel this helped with folding them in half. I also added chicken to the marinara sauce. I was looking for more of a all in one baked dish. In the future I will decrease the marinara sauce as it was too much for me. I found this took longer to cook and prep than estimated but I find most recipes take longer than stated. This will be one I cook again and again.

Spaghetti Squash I

We really loved this recipe. So much that I bought another on my next visit to the store. I have been told spaghetti squash was just like spaghetti. Not quite... I could not see how that was possible so I was not expecting it to be just like spaghetti. I was so pleasantly surprised by this dish. I had to make some alterations. I did not have fresh basil so I used cilantro. That added a pleasant zip to the flavor in my opinion. I also had a jar of artichoke hearts on hand and I added those but forgot the cheese. Turns out it did not need the cheese and I am looking forward to making this again. The next time I make this, I will increase the garlic to either 2 or 3 cloves. I noticed that I missed the garlic flavor when I was eating this and when I had it again for left overs. Very good.

Slow-Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage

This was my first corned beef attempt. It turned out great. There was so much flavor from just the meat and the season package it come with (I did not add beer). Because of the mixed reviews on time I decided to cook it on high for 8 hours as recommended. It was super easy to remove the extra fat and the meat was tender. Because I work full time I had to put the veggies in for the whole time. They were pretty soft but were still in their original shape and even held up for left over re-heatings. I have added this to my recipe box and do intend to make it again.

Chinese Chicken Fried Rice II

Grilled Fish Steaks

This was so flavorful. I only had tilapia so I used it on that. The fish was so moist. The salt was a little high so I will cut it back next time I use this. My young son (3 1/2 years) also loved it.

Accidental Fish

I thought this would have more flavor based on some of the reviews. I even doubled the garlic. My husband and son liked it but I was disappointed in what I felt was a lack of flavor. I will need to figure out something to add to it.

Cajun Chicken Pasta

We liked this recipe a lot. There is a great flavor. One thing I will say is that it is too salty. The lemon pepper has salt. You add salt. The Cajun seasoning has salt. I will omit the addition of salt in the future. Also, it helped me to remove the chicken and slick it to stir the pasta in.

No-Cream Pasta Primavera

I wish I had the really liked it star... I did not expect the balsamic vinegar. It added a nice touch. I think I will reduce it to 2 T next time. I did not have asparagus so I used broccoli. I did not roast the vegetables because I did not read the instructions correctly... Still very good and I will make it again.

Garlic Chicken

I have updated my rating from liked it to loved it. My whole family liked this recipe. It was so moist I could even give chunks to my 1 year old. I used 2 half breasts for the bread crumbs and parmesan because that is what I had thawed. The recipe is simple enough I did not make any changes. This recipe is really easy and has such a wonderful flavor.

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

I made this recipe as it is here so I rated for how it was before changing the recipe. The meat was bland and the gravy had no flavor. I love the idea of the recipe but to make the gravy taste good I had to add garlic, salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce. Unfortunately I did not realize the meat was going to be so bland or I would have added something like garlic and oregano. I will probably try it with these modifications. I put it over rice and I am impartial to rice or potatoes.

Curried Coconut Chicken

This did not taste right at all. I followed the recipe as it is listed here. It had very little flavor and relied on salt being added to pull out the curry taste. It was a huge disappointment.

Stuffed Green Peppers I

This had such a better flavor than the recipe I grew up hating. We liked it and I will make it again. I cooked the rice separate because that is something I never liked about my mom's; crunchy rice. I do not like green bell pepper so I used red. I also used roasted red pepper soup because I don't but condensed soup. I also added cilantro but it didn't add that much to the flavor as I thought it would. Thank you for making this something I would be interested in eating again.

This had a very full chili flavor. I will use this recipe again in the future. I will probably cut the brown sugar back to either 1/3 cup or 1/4 cup.
