About this Cook
I had never cooked until after college when I got married. I received many wonderful recipes from my mom and grandma, but never utilized them until after the nuptuals.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake the most...cookies(big, fat chewy chocolate chip cookies are the best from allrecipes.com), cakes, pies, pastries. Savory foods are not my forte. Cooking dinner is usually so boring.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We would always decorate spritz cookies at Christmas. My mom would load the cookie gun with spritz dough and curse at the darn thing until perfect cookies would come out. We then loaded them with sprinkles and sugar until they were unrecognizable. Yummmm.....
My cooking triumphs
Cooking for friends and family. The teachers at my kids' school know when my baked goods are coming. They all look forward to it!
My cooking tragedies
After my husband and I first got married, I had my in-laws over for chocolate cream pie. I had never baked before, so I was rushing through a recipe that I had found. I forgot to add the sugar to the pie AND I didn't bake the meringue topping. It was so disgusting and my mother-in-law kept eating it and saying, "Mmmm, this is really good" with a fake grin on her face. I took my first bite and realized it was the most terrible thing I had ever put in my mouth!! So embarassing.

Absolutely Best Brownies
ABSOUTELY! I may have made another rating "some other" brownie...but I take it back! These have gotten RAVE reviews. I double the recipe, use regular flour, substitute chocolate chips for the nuts and bake in a 13x9" pan for exactly 30 minutes. Perfection.

Easy Mushroom Rice
I used fresh sauteed mushrooms for this recipe. My daughter and I loved it, but my husband said it was just "ok". He said it was very "mushroomy". :)
