Black Bean Pizza

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2007
One word folks. Great. When you are cutting all these veggies you wonder if it's worth it, considering this is really homemade pizza, but from the first bite you know it was worth it. Like other reviewers, add a bit of chili powder or buy the tomatoes that have the green chilis in them to add that extra kick that makes the meat eaters less reluctant to try a non meat dish. This is filling but yet because it is ALL veggies and pretty healthy if you use low fat cheese, you don't feel guilty having more than oh 3 pieces. I do have to admit though, I DID add a small can of tomato sauce to the bottom crust and did not do the cheese layering. Crust, sauce, filling, cheese. Yum. You will not be disappointed with this recipe.

Banana Cake Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2007
Gave this four stars because when put in muffin pan, tastes like ordinary banana muffins. That said, what I really liked about this recipe was that it did make 24 regular sized muffins and they were very moist. The frosting made it sweeter so as it became a dessert rather than a breakfast "bread/muffin". Definitely will make again.

Baked Soy Lemon Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2007
VERY easy recipe because all the 5 ing. every kitchen has on hand. I never go by the cooking time for pork cause if I did on this one the pork would have been dry. I cooked six thick chops uncovered for 30 minutes. Will surely make again because this is such an easy recipe.

Sensational Sirloin Kabobs

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2007
They were good, but watch your cubing and grill timing. Smaller cubes, shorter cooking time. Will use this marinade on full size steaks for sure but not sure on GRILLED Kabobs, lacked wow factor.

Tortilla Rollups I

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2007
Maybe just me, but the salsa was really strong against the cream cheese. Had leftovers when served @ a graduation party. You can eat only a few of these so guess it is a good choice for an "appetizer". I have found the roll-ups with deli meats being more fulfilling and worth preparing/serving. Sorry won't make again.

Watermelon Fire and Ice Salsa

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2007
VERY different. Everyone @ my BBQ raved about it except one friend who said "My mind keeps telling me it should taste like tomatoes". The reason this was said was that when you dice the watermelon, this salsa looks just like any other tomato salsa. Tastes better the next day, that is if you are lucky enough to have leftovers. Use jar Jalapenos~easier and gives more of a punch.

Slow Cooker Beef Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2007
People.. this recipe works! I didn't add the canned veggies @ first, did add the liquid though. The veggies themselves didn't get added until 2 hours into cooking.

No Name Orange Roughy

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2007
Yet another review of 5 stars. Perfect combo for Orange Roughy. As other reviewers have said, the cheese makes this dish! And as other reviewers said, let the liquid reduce a bit before adding the fish.

Bow Tie Pasta with Sausage and Sweet Peppers

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2007
It's four stars because it doesn't carry over well in flavor the next day for leftovers. That said, this is a 5 star recipe in my opinion simply because it's so different. This is a one dish meal, and hard to believe, because of pasta and italian sausage so light tasting. The BROTH is the KEY! Even picky eater teenagers were surprised by the taste. They were expecting the old standby of sausuage and pepper flavor. Does make a large bowl so a very economical meal for a big family! Followed recipe exactly.

Awesome Baked Sea Scallops

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2007
I gave it 5 stars but did change the recipe a bit. I followed except did not add the breadcrumb topping. After the time of cooking for the scallop mixture I added a drained can of asparagus, mixsed it all up, THAN added the crumb topping and baked it until it was browned, about 6 minutes. It did not look that appealing when it came out but when served it on a small bed of rice and it was so light tasting! Don't forget to use the extra sauce from the pan. For me it was poured onto the rice.

Gramma's Cream of Broccoli

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2007
I gave this recipe a four because it doesn't make alot. Perfect for 2-3 people lunch. Kids liked it and really easy to make with small bit of broc. I did use the 3 cups of water that I boiled the broccoli in for the "water". It boiled down to about 2 cups and that little bit extra from the 1 cup called for made for the perfect consistancy. Will make again for a quick homemade lunch. Don't forget to add salt and pepper before serving for the extra seasoning this soup does need.

Fabulous Cilantro Pesto

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2007
Really liked this.. very different because of the ingred. Follow the recipe folks, even if you think it will be too much pepper or you question the combo w/nuts. By using a food processor it makes it all into a perfect sauce. Not a dish to eat with company because of the heavy garlic! LOL.. used a bit of water the next day, about 1/4 of a cup because of the soaking up factor. Used wheat penne noodles.

Lemon Garlic Tilapia

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2006
Okay.. well I didn't bake it because I was HUNGRY and didn't want to wait for preheat. I melted the butter, added the fish and other ing. except the lemon. Added lemon last few minutes of cooking. Done.. fast and easy recipe and GOOD! Very light tasting eventhough cooked in butter. Keeper

Spicy Honey Mustard Pork Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2006
Was a great recipe. Very tender meat and the sauce was wonderful once I added about a T. of flour and whisked it. I put all the ingr. in/on the roast the night before. This will be made again for sure! Oh.. I did keep it covered the entire time.. doesn't say either yes or no on the covering in the recipe.

Salmon with Tomatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2006
This is REALLY good. would never think about adding all those spices together. The combo of all ingr. together reminded me of something canjun. One pointer... do break up the fish like the recipe says to do. I followed another reviewer and didn't and think the flavors would have mingled even better if the fish was broken up.

Fresh Pear Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2006
OMG.. I just made a pear "bread" from a recipe on ALLRECIPES and was reviewing it saying it was more like a CAKE, added frosting and everyone loved it that way. I do more searching and here is this recipe EXACTLY like the "bread" recipe. Than the reviewer before me says this recipe is more like a "Bread". Talk about cross referencing! LOL. This recipe is one that can be served like a bread or a cake. I prefer it as a cake, with powdered sugar or a cream cheese frosting.

Pear Bread I

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2006
Well #1, big banana bread fan and probably made the mistake of "assuming" this would be a sweet bread like that. Wrong. Eventhough lots of "sweet ingr." not a sweet bread and can hardly taste the pear. In fairness, this bread is light tasting and a good staple bread for maybe tea? So to me, I'd put this in the CAKE category and add a frosting, which is what I did, and EVERYONE at the party loved it. I did have a plate of the "loaf pieces" and people couldn't believe it was the same recipe, hence why I think the "bread" compliments the frosting. So I'm keeping it just to use up all the pears from the tree.

Pork Sausage and Cabbage Pitas

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2006
Okay... so I listened to past posters and used a hot sausage. Big mistake. The pepper in the recipe is enough! It was so hot we couldn't even finish the meal. But I'm giving it 4 stars because it really is a good dish! Different flavor but easy to eat. Pork Sausage isn't just for breakfest. Will make again in it's original recipe form.
