Mexican Quinoa

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2013
I made some alterations based on what I had on hand, but this is very good. Will make again. My changes, doubled the recipe for a one pot meal, sauted some chicken with the onions then added the quinoa, and only added 2 cups chicken stock (that's all I had), the rest water and instead of jalepenos I added can of green chilies. My family loved it and they aren't usually fond of quinoa.

Apple Avocado Salad with Tangerine Dressing

Reviewed: May 29, 2012
This salad didn't work for me. Thought it sounded good in theory, but the dressing was all wrong. Won't be making again.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
This is by far the best cornbread recipe I've ever tried. Made as written, and was fantastic. Next time I think I'll try with whole wheat flour.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2011
Think this an average stew. It was ok, but nothing out of the ordinary, not enough flavor. Think I will keep searching....

Restaurant-Style Taco Meat Seasoning

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2011
This is really good. I also used corn starch instead of the corn flour cuz I didn't have that. I think the garlic salt could be omitted, it is a little on the salty side. Also, came out a bit greasy for me so next time I will rinse the meat before adding spices.

Slow Cooker Pineapple Pork Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2010
Followed others suggestions and added a bit of teriyaki sauce (yoshida's) and some onion on the bottom but otherwise followed directions. Served my family and inlaws and they rated it 5 stars, my FIL rated it '3 platefuls' Will definately make it again.

Seattle Dutch Babies

We love these -- they are kind of like a blank canvas that you can put anything on. Fruit, cinnamon sugar, syrup and butter, whatever you choose.

Shrimp and Crab Enchiladas

Reviewed: May 5, 2010
These were so easy. I used imitation crab instead of real crab. I didn't measure the cheese, but used a lot of it. I will make these again, but add more stuff to the filling.

Banana Cake Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2010
My daughter made these (with a little help). She didn't want the nuts so we left them out. I missed them, she didn't. Everyone enjoyed these cookies and they went quickly. We did substitute half whole wheat flour and I addedd a bit of nutmeg, maybe 1/4 tsp, just because I really like it. Will definately use this recipe again. We used 3 bananas.

Country Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2009
I tried the recipe as written - which I like to do before changing it. And yep, there is way too much oil for my taste. You could easily cut it in half. It is definatley more cake than bread. With that said I will use the recipe again becauase it is so easy! Probably will add some spices and definately much less oil.

This was really good. I followed the recipe exactly except it was done in about 6 hours on high. I would definately use again!

Pollo Fajitas

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
My family loved this recipe. Using the lemon with the recipe is a MUST. Do not miss this step. Totally changes the flavor of the chicken. I used chicken breasts and added a little cumin because I love it. Other than that followed exactly. Will definately use again, can't taste the soy sauce or worch. sauce -- doesn't taste asian at all.

Bean Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2009
I followed the directions except pureed some beans at the end and added 1/4 cup ketchup and 1/4 cup brown sugar as other suggested. Oh - and doubled the veggies. Was really good, will definately make again. **UPDATE 3/23/09 - this soup has become a staple in our house. I follow step #1, then throw everything in the crock pot (either on low or high depending on how much time I have). I have used bacon or sausage instead of the ham omitting the ham hock and it turns out great. I am making it again today!

Slower Cooker Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
This received mixed reviews at my house. I liked it, my husband did not. I would not use the steak seasoning. I used some, but not all and my family still thought it was too spicy. Will probably use this as my base and play around with it to our liking.

Barbeque Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
This was really good. I was only looking for a good sauce so I must admit I cheated and threw everything for the sauce in the crock pot, stirred and added the chicken. Cooked all day on low. It was wonderful! I did double the sauce amount though.

This goes without saying, but this was AWESOME. My 13 yr old and 3 yr old ate it. I will make again and again. Followed the recipe exactly. You can throw in whatever your family likes really. Next time I'll take others advice and add mandarin oranges and gorganzola. YOU CAN'T MISS WITH THIS ONE!

These are good basic pancakes, but nothing to rave about from my family. Just average pancakes. I have liked others from this site better.

Texas Ranch Potato Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2008
This is awesome. I made it at a family reunion and everyone wanted to recipe. Per other suggestions I used half mayo and half sour cream. I also did not let it sit 2 hrs. Maybe a half hour. The bacon was crispy which everyone thought added to the salad. LOVED IT!
