FANTASTIC with whole-wheat flour!!! Exactly as directed, but generous on the oil, and you have a quick and easy whole-wheat masterpiece!

Authentic Mexican Tortillas

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
YAY, this was fantastic. Two comments: 1-I used a modification that another Reviewer had made and used butter flavored crisco. BIG mistake. The butter flavor made it delicious alright, but delicious as a thin, flat biscuit! If you like down-home southern cooking, that's a fantastic modification. Matter of fact, it would be excellent with "Breakfast Burrito" type flavor. But for authentic tortilla flavor, you just have to use lard or shortening. Second comment - Make sure to knead the dough fully, letting all the hot water (as hot as you can handle!) mix evenly with the shortening and flour. FANTASTIC. There's nothing like REAL tortillas with grilled meat, lettuce, tomatoes & pintos! This is my staple recipe now.

Sadie's Longboy Cheeseburgers

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2007
not for little kids! I love the idea of this recipe; it seems easy enough to whip up and an economical way to make 1 pound of hamburger feed 6 people at least, but it ends up being too dry and crusty. by the time the meat is done, the bread is TOO done. because i love the idea, i fidgeted with the recipe and came up with one semi-acceptable modification before giving up . I added 1 CAN CREAM OF MUSHROOM to the meat mix, and that made the meat less dry. Possibly if I had teenagers this could work, but it was just too dry and too big for my 4 and 6 year olds mouths.

Easy Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2006
this is delicious the first time and horrible as left overs because the soup absorbs into the noodles and the onions get soggy. plan to eat the whole, delicious dish the first time or cut the recipe in half!

my mom has made these since i was a kid. it's always been a hit, and i use a modification with my family - same recipe but use sloppy joe sauce rather than BBQ. either way is super, QUICK & easy. gotta love it.
