Naan

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2006
This was excellent. I made half with garlic, half without, and sauteed it in butter and oil on the stove because I don't have a grill. For those who couldn't get it thin enough they may have added too much flour, mine took only about 3 1/4 cups.

Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2010
This was absolutely perfect. I made it for a bunch of friends who had never had cajun food before. They were blown away!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2010
Absolutely divine. So good that I had a friend pay for me to come from DC to Pittsburg so I could make these for his friends after they challenged his assertions about how good they are. One thing that I found helpful is to increase the amount of cinnamon in the filling-- this makes it stick a bit better and gets you closer to the way real cinnabons are. Otherwise the filling tends to run right out to the bottom.

Grilled Salmon I

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2010
This was perfect and so simple. I made it under the broiler in my oven, tightly wrapped with aluminum foil and open on top.

Ranch Dressing II

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2010
I made this recipe using toufutti sour cream because I keep kosher and wanted something to serve with buffalo wings. It came out perfectly, and I didn't miss the dairy at all!

Greek Orzo with Feta

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2010
I make this recipe all the time now, since it is things I usually have on hand. It is absolutely delicious. It makes a great packed lunch as it is wonderful room temperature and better the next day! The only change that I would make is that I prefer it without the parsley. Just a personal preference!

Easy Vodka Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2010
I had friends begging me for this recipe, it was a big hit! I served it with crimini mushrooms that I had tossed in a little olive oil, salt and italian seasoning and roasted at 350 for 15 minutes.

Fluffy Whole Wheat Biscuits

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2010
These were delicious with home made apple butter. Not quite my ideal buiscut recipe, but for a healthier whole wheat buiscut they were lovely.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2010
The taste of this pie is divine. One of my friends said it was the best home-made pie he had ever tried. I give it four stars only because the crusts came out quite goopy.

Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2010
This soup was delicious, but I am giving it three stars because it calls for way, way too much water. I thought 8 sounded like too much so I added only 6 cups, and still had to spend lots of time reducing it to get it to have any kind of body. If you like a lentil soup that has a lot of broth, keep the recipe the way it is. If you like a thick lentil soup, start with 4 or 5 cups and add more if necessary.

Cucumber Tomato Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2010
The flavors on this are right, but with so much water I was wanting more vinegar flavor. Thankfully, it was easily saved by dumping out some of the liquid and adding more vinegar.

Blackened Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2010
This recipe was good, but didn't have the kick that I was looking for with blackened chicken. The sauce cooked on the chicken was goopy and made for a pretty gross looking presentation. The sauce is delicious though, and I will likely use it again just as a dipping sauce.

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2010
While this is a good basic recipe for bread pudding, I found it to be bland and definitely in need of a little something extra. I made a sauce out fo butter, brown sugar and Drambuie to spoon over the top, and they certainly did the trick, especially with some bananas sauteed in it, and my roommate enjoyed it a lot with ice cream. I just really wasn't bowled over.

Indian Curried Barley Pilaf

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2010
I made this recipe almost to the T, which I never do, and I regretted it. There was very little flavor and the barley was undercooked. I had to cook it much longer than the recipe predicted as well. This wasn't a disaster as I was cooking to eat it later, but could have been. This needs a lot more spices to get to tasting anything like indian. I also added some diced chicken to make it hold up as a meal in itself. After I did this, added more liquid, and cooked it a bit more I ended up with something I liked. I love this concept though, and will try to come up with a recipe myself that does what I wish this one did!
