Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2008
This was perfect! The smoky flavor was just right, not too much. I used two 2 lb pork shoulders, so I flipped them after 6 hours and then shredded the meat after 10 hours. I left it to soak up the juice for 2 more hours and served. 12 hours was just right. Thanks for the easy recipe!!

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2008
I also took some of the others' suggestions and used 2/3 cream cheese and 1/3 sour cream. I still thought it was a little rich, and next time will flip the measurements. I also used golden cream of mushroom soup instead of cream of chicken which turned out great. (I was trying to keep a little of the traditional stroganoff taste). I used whole frozen boneless skinless breasts, which held together pretty well. My family really liked this, so I will definitely make it again with a couple of more modifications. Great base for a dinner though!

Macaroni and Cheese V

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2007
This was pretty good. The only change I made was to add minced onions rather than chopped (I didn't have any.)I added all the breadcrumbs that it called for and wish I had only used 1/2. It seemed like way too much, and kind of overwhelmed the cheese taste. Next time I will double the cheese mix and half the topping. Otherwise, taste was good. Mustard adds a nice flavor.

Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2007
Very good. The only change was to use fresh spinach instead of frozen. The kids liked the bacon on top, which crisped up nicely under the broiler.

This was an easy recipe, and my German boyfriend liked it. I served it with my mom's goulash recipe. Thanks!

Soy Sauce Chicken and Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2007
I thought this was okay. I felt like it was lacking something... I think next time I may add water chestnuts and mandarin oranges to play up the stir fry taste a little more.

Irish Beef Stew

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2007
This was very good and smelled great when we walked through the door! My only changes were that we didn't add parsnips or potatoes and ate it with mashed potatoes instead. I did add quite a bit of salt when I added the thickener, as it wasn't salty at all. Definitely a keeper!

Easy Olive Martini Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2007
This was very good and smelled great while I was cooking it. I changed the directions a tiny bit and added the garlic while I browned the chicken. I also took the advice of others and doubled the amount of sauce. I served this over penne pasta and it was a hit. The kids ate it without a complaint even though the sauce has a strong flavor. One of the kids wouldn't eat the olives, but they were easy enough to pick out. Thanks for the great recipe!

Cabbage Hamburger Bake

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2007
We love cabbage rolls in our family, so I thought this would be an easy substitute. I changed the recipe a bit by cooking my rice first in beef broth and adding it to the hamburger before layering. I think it was a nice addition. The taste was alright overall. My boyfriend said it has "potential". I think next time I try this I will use tomato sauce rather than the soup, as it seemed to give a sweet taste I didn't want.

Company Potatoes

This was good. The only thing I changed was to use two cans of cream of celery rather than a cream of potato.

Beef Barley Vegetable Soup

This soup was very tasty. I made it on the stove because I waited to long to start it, but followed all the ingredients and it turned out great. Thanks.

Chicken Breasts in Caper Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2007
The family all ate it and said it was good, but I still felt like something was missing in the cream sauce. Will probably make it again and try to adjust the sauce to our taste.

Broccoli Salad II

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2007
This was a very easy dressing to make, but I thought it was a little sweeter than some broccoli salads I've tasted. I added more wine vinegar until it was a bit more tangy the way I like it. Overall though, it got great reviews and there weren't any leftovers. Thanks!

Porcupines

These were pretty good. I used instant rice because I wanted to be sure it would be cooked and not hard. This tasted a lot like meatloaf balls, and my family enjoyed them.

Artichoke Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2006
This was pretty tasty, but very rich. You have to really like artichokes to enjoy this one! I added bread crumbs to the top, but otherwise made it as directed. It was great with linguine. I ate kalamata olives with mine, to make it feel more Greek.

This is the only way I like asparagus anymore. I cut the cut time in half though, because I like mine a little crisp.

Artichoke Tetrazzini

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2006
This was good, but I felt like it was lacking something. So I added fresh baby spinach to the pasta right before I poured the sauce on. I think maybe next time I will saute some fresh garlic with the onions and mushrooms.
