About this Cook
I cook because I like to eat. I am enjoying all recipes. I like the rating part and rely on it for a good recipe.
My favorite things to cook
I like cooking tasty dinner meals for my family. We eat leftovers for a day or two... I just made the creamy potato porkchop bake - Yum! and My family enjoys a typical Southern meal of salmon patties, macaroni and cheese, and pop biscuits with pear jam.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I do not have many cooking traditions,,,, I miss my Mom, who was Japanese and cooked wonderfully. When I am sick... Miso soup is sort of like my comfort food. She made great okinomiyaki, sukiyaki, tempura, and osushi.
My cooking triumphs
I have made mousakka and baklava for 30 people on two different occassions. Baklava is simple and relatively inexpensive to make,,, I use a pastry brush and melt my butter on the Baklava... My moussaka is better than many Greek restaurants... I adapted recipes from the web for both of them.
My cooking tragedies
I cooked Gumbo last Sunday... they called for roux made of 1 cup of olive oil and 1 cup of flour... I tried two times and stirred for over an hour... finally I made it of 1 cup of butter and 1 cup of flour... far superior...I also forgot about the sausage balls I made about 30 years ago. I took them to the party... they were very dry--- for entertainment we watched unwitting people eat them and see the dry sausage balls explode in their mouths!!! Cruel but true!

Banana Cake VI
Simply Superb. I followed the directions to the letter. I took the cake to Sunday School for breakfast. They loved it. So good..... so preservative free. Moist and tasty.
