I love to cook tradition Ukrainian & Russian food - peroha, beet borscht, cabbage borscht, holobsti, pyrahi, etc. I love to cook chinese, italian & mexican food as well. I love grilling anything & everything. I love to bake at Christmas. I also love to make soup. I come from a long line of good cooks. My mom's side of the family is Ukrainian & my dad's side is Russian/Doukhobor. I remember pinching peroha, making borscht & rolling holobsti when I was a little girl. Any big family functions meant group perogy making with all my aunties. We carry on the tradition still. My favorite cooking triumph was a turkey with all of the trimmings for Christmas one year. It was the first time I had hosted the entire family for Christmas. My uncle asked me to give my turkey & stuffing recipe to my auntie. He said it was the best he's ever had and that is a huge compliment since my auntie is a fantastic cook. I've had a few. I hate when I cook something in the oven that splatters and smokes so the smoke alarm goes off. Now my husband & kids joking call it the dinner bell.
