Brunch Strata

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2012
it was very good. I was expecting more of a cream cheese flavor and did customize some the ingredients to what my family prefers. I added bacon and my dad had informed me (the morning I made it) that he was no longer eating pork. later on, I found that he had a 2nd helping. Guess that new diet was starting the next day. :D

Taqueria Style Tacos - Carne Asada

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2012
Being Mexican and Puerto Rican, I was looking for a familiar and traditional flavor. The meat tasted better than good but it wasn't what I was expecting taqueria tacos to taste like. My boyfriend devoured it but when I told him that I was expecting it to taste like the "taco truck" he said, "Oh?! Yeah, not like the taco truck but it was still good!"

Best Steak Marinade in Existence

Reviewed: May 22, 2012
I made this the first time for Mother's Day and my family really liked it. I had only been able to let it marinade for that day and I used whole beef tenderloin. At first I thought it was ok but found myself wanting more later in the evening and had to make it again. This time I used whole beef tenderloin again and I was able to let it marinade for 2 days. I also used about 1/2 of the lemon juice and I used about 1/4 cup of balsamic vinegar. It is more of an acidic flavor and if you crust the meat up a little by having a nice hot grill, the crusty meat and marinade flavor dances on your tongue a lot longer. I also didn't find the need to blend the mixture. I haven't tried using fresh herbs yet especially because there' s so much flavor with the dried, plus I also used a tablespoon of dried oregano too. I enjoyed this and will again and again.

Kyle's Favorite Beef Stew

Reviewed: May 22, 2012
I have made this twice now and enjoyed the flavor both times. The first time I just threw everything into the crock pot. I added a little more burgundy wine because I like the flavor. I thought it turned out fine without the pre-bagging in flour etc. Plus, I never had to add the cornstarch because I didn't add the 2 cups of boiling water, plus my meat was still partially frozen and I figured the moisture from there would make up for the lack of adding water. I love mushrooms and onions so the amount for me was great. You just add to your preference, it wont change the flavor of the meat. I also added a few bay leaves like other viewers had suggested. Give it try, make it your own, but the stew is great!

Simple BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2012
LOVE IT! You really can't mess this one up. I enjoy that it is so simple yet so good. I will usually use the country style pork ribs but have also used boneless beef ribs and just because of my personal preference, I am very generous with my BBQ sauce.

Mexican Rice III

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2012
Even though I'm Latina, I wasn't raised in a home that cooked Mexican or Spanish food. My husband however, did and said that this rice was worth calling, "Mexican." I do use a small can of chopped up mexican veggies instead of using the fresh bell peppers, jalapenos, and tomato.

Awesome Steak Marinade

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2012
I liked the marinade very much. I like not having to search for expensive or hard to find ingredients. I may not make it again for the whole family because my husband felt it was way too sweet. Me being a "recovering sugar addict," enjoyed it a lot.

Green Grape Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2012
I could make this any time of the year. Sadly, I can also eat it all by myself any time of the year. Its an easy recipe too for those potlucks at work or house warming party.

Easy Lasagna I

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2012
I love this easy recipe. I haven't bothered to look for a different recipe for lasagna. I do, however just mix the shredded cheese with the eggs and ricotta cheese mixture and will occasionally tweak the sauce that I buy. I also swear by Barilla's no boil lasagna noodles. As long as the pasta is covered with sauce, it will turn out great.
