Greg's Southern Biscuits

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2011
This was my first time making biscuits like this and they turned out great. I had a very hard time shredding frozen butter and lard...it ended up in my bowl in big clumps, so I would just chill and chop next time, then integrate until it reaches the oatmeal texture needed. The layers were perfect!

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2010
This pie is phenomenal. I have made it twice, as written, and will add cinnamon to the apples next time. Everyone goes on and on about how good it is, and it is so easy!

Chicken Wild Rice Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2008
This is like Panera's but much better! I used all the meat leftover from a roasted chicken, pulling it by hand to the size pieces I like. I used my homemade broth (also from the same roasted chicken) to cook the rice and for this recipe. I left out the almonds and added white pepper. Minced garlic was added to the celery/onion/carrot mix while sauteing. Seasonings were measured "heaping". I froze the leftovers right away, so I hope it reheats well. DELICIOUS!

Classic Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2007
These are the best cookies I've ever made!! I did not melt the butter, just let it sit out until softened. I probably used more peanut butter than called for (I just dragged my wooden spoon out of the pb jar - natural, of course). I made 3" and 1" cookies, and they were both fantastic! I also added a bag of Reese's pb chips. These were very pretty, chewy and so tastey. I also rolled a couple of my batches in sugar.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2007
Always a favorite. I usually make quite a few changes from this recipe, but that is to be expected. The biscuit dough idea is genius.

I added a ranch packet, used real bacon and let it sit overnight. Used it as a dip and with a smashed potato.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2007
This is always a huge hit. It makes a ton, so I usually only make it for company. I usually use more cheese, but that's the way I like things.

I usually use 1/2c ketchup, 1/2c bbq sauce. I can't believe how easy it is to make these.

Basic Yankee Bread Stuffing

This was the first time I made stuffing from scratch. I loved it from the bird. It needs a lot more liquid to cook in a separate dish.

I used fresh beans and would've liked to have cooked them longer. My dish was phenomenal the next day after reheating. Everyone loved it, regardless.

Zesty Chicken Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2007
This was a great change. I used cooked chicken and "ground" it in my processor. I also only had fajita seasoning, but it still turned out wonderful! Thanks!!
