Shaker Pork Sandwiches

Reviewed: May 28, 2008
Not bad. Cant say these were the best i've had. But i like that the recipe is simple enough that i had everything on hand. For the average who eats mostly standard traditional foods these are probably great but for those are used to a variety of flavors from different parts of the world, these are just ok.

Dad's Best Burgers

Reviewed: May 20, 2008
This was fairly simple to make and tasted pretty good but didnt wow me. I've had better home made burgers. I also don't think the cream cheese was neccesary.

Crepes

Reviewed: May 15, 2008
Oh boy! These are perfect crepes. Simple original crepe recipe. If you are browsing and trying to decided which crepe recipe to use, look no further. This is the best one i have tried on this site. It's just perfect, very comparble to the magic pan crepes we have here at MOA.

Regular Crepes

Reviewed: May 12, 2008
I made these crepes last weekend and i felt they were too floury. I added a little more milk to make them lighter but still tasted floury. Otherwise they were good. However, I think if i try these again use i cup of flour instead of 1 1/2 but i hav to say the 'crepes' recipe on this site is way better and very original. I would rather recommend that recipe.

Southern Candied Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 29, 2008
The best recipe for sweet potaotes i have tried. I had these in mind to make for my boyfriend and initially i asked if he liked sweet potatoes and he said NO!! I made them anyway and Yes he loved them. He said they tasted like a dessert. Although mine didnt get the 'candied' effect i was hoping for - a little too much liquid left over and also was cooked in about 45mins. definetely a keeper never going back to making these in the oven.

Baked Maryland Lump Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Feb. 29, 2008
great recipe. by far the best i have tried on this site but does not exceed the restaurants quality i have had. The trick is to use alll real ingredients (crab, mayo, butter, etc)I also added green onoins and little lemon juice. Always use a spatula to mix to avoid break ups. Do not be tempted to add more old bay seasoning like i was i cant stand bland food and added a little extra and was a little salty. I also used one large egg. I also broiled mine in the oven for about 10mins each side came out perfect.

Asian Lettuce Wraps

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2008
Very good recipe. Nice flavors without any overkill. The are the best i have tried so far and my standards are pretty high. However, I did use ground turkey for mine and added a bit of chopped shrimp. I had a bit of the mixture left over so i used the rest to make pot stickers (folded in wanton wraps then steamed them) which turned out FABULOUS.

Hash Brown Casserole II

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2008
This recipe is exceptional. A definite keeper. I used hash brown patties bcos that is what i had on hand and crumbled them up into the mixture. I also used french's french fried onions instead of real ones. The cornflakes topping really make a huge difference please do not omitt. I used frosted cornflakes. My boyfriend raved about it for 2 days.

Ann's Shrimp Etouffee

didn't care much for this recipe. i love shrimp and this is not a 'shrimp wonder' dish to me. maybe pork roast would have been better for this. Thanks for sharing anyway.

Fried Cabbage II

Seven Layer Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2007
Great recipe!! I also made a few changes as i have made this several times. I use grilled chicken breast sometimes instead of bacon, i have also used both together. i am not big on cauliflower so i always use chopped cabbage instead. I have also added golden raisins occasionally for extra sweetness, and for the dressing i use part ranch and part mayo with the sugar and parmesean cheese. (i am yet to try white vinegar as suggested by others, but i sure will)

Crab Pitas

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2007
This is real quick, simple, and good. I give 3 stars cos i found the recipe to be a bit bland, so i added jalapeno pepper to the mix and a dash of old bay.

It Won't Last Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2007
Good cake overall. I used only 1/2 cup of oil and turned out perfect. Not the best cake i've had but still good esp. with the cherries. Also i dont get why eggs are listed as part of the ingredients but not used in the directions. ???? was a little confusing to me whether to use the eggs or not but i did and it turned out well.

Jamaican Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2007
mmmm, definitely briliiant. would keep this recipe. I used shrimp in mine, and also added a dab of salt and pepper. like other reviewers it is definitely a different taste, but real good. Other modifications; i used basmati rice and steamed the rice first till done. Then stir fried the cooked rice with the other ingredients. I also used coconut milk in part to cook the rice.

Brigadeiro

This recipe is easy to make cant go wrong on getting it right. Slight variation i would suggest would be to have some caramel in the middle right before forming the balls or dip ball in caramel/butterscotch then coconut
