My favorite things to cook
Everyday meat and potatoes meals for my family are the favorite things I like to cook. Husbands' military career took us to many parts of the country as well as in the Far East so there are a few regional and International foods I like to make.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The hard and fast cooking tradition that goes back generations in my family is that the Mother is the main cook and I like it that way. Our family almost always has a sit down supper together so we can share the day's experiences and enjoy each other's company.
My cooking triumphs
Deep Fried Turkey. I learned from a true Cajun how to do it and can hardly wait for Thanksgiving or Christmas to show off again.
My cooking tragedies
For 30 years I burned every pot of dry beans that I tried to cook. Once I finally got them cooked to a delicious, tender and tasty finish only to burn then when I heated them up for supper. Then I discovered how to cook beans in a crockpot! Haven't burnt a bean since.
