I grew up with a mother who cooked dinner almost every single night - and with a father who always cleaned the kitchen after mom cooked! Luckily my husband and I adhere to that same cooking principle!
My parents are very well-traveled, after having lived on three different continents, so I was exposed early on to more exotic and spicy foods. At our house, you never knew if we might have chicken spaghetti or African stew for dinner! As an adult, I think I crave the good old comfort foods more because we didn't have them much as a kid. But every now and then, it's really fun to head to the ethnic markets and make some fun persian dish!
My favorite things to cook
Whatever sounds good at the moment! I really like trying recipes that have unusual ingredient combinations or a new spin on a classic dish. For instance, my favorite meatball recipes uses pine nuts and golden raisins - I love the crunch and tastes from the toasted pine nuts and the little burst of sweet from the raisins.
