Slow Cooker Beef Pot Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2012
Someone mentioned about not tasting the fresh herbs. fresh herbs should be put in towards the end of the cooking time, otherwise they lose their intense flavor. Maybe more should be added towards the end.

Sugar-Free Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2007
I have made this recipe several times, use large box of pudding, adjust the milk a little at a time to get the consistency you need for frosting. The frosting stayed on the cake, no problem, use less milk so it's thicker. Just love this. It is like chocolate mousse. Will try other sugar-free flavors in the future.

I have had these sandwiches in the past and they are wonderful. Quick to fix and delicious. Great to serve at a party or small gathering.

After the Holidays Ham Bone Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2010
Followed the recipe exactly, no changes made. Felt it needed something else. I have other recipes for soup that uses a ham bone which I would choose over this one. It isn't bad, but it just isn't a keeper for me. My husband did say it tasted better than he thought it was going to. I kept my opinion to myself until after he had a bowl. I was hoping it would have more flavor but just didn't do it for me. Sorry.

Cranberry-Pear Tossed Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
This did make an awful lot of dressing. I think the red wine vinegar was a bit too much, so added a little more of the apricot nectar. By the way, the apricot nectar is in the juice aisle, six pack of very small cans. I will make this again. I love blue cheese, husband doesn't so put cheddar in his salad and he was fine with that. Will make it again.

Sour Cherry Pudding Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2011
OMG!! Absolutely delicious. Just made it today, my husband and I have already eaten a third of it. Picked the cherries this morning and decided I was going to make this. I used whipped cream but would love to have had the ice cream. Next time. I had 4 cups of cherries and that worked out just fine.

Tortellini Bacon Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2010
Made this recipe for a party. I have made lots of different broccoli/pasta salad recipes but this one is exceptionally good. Very easy to make, takes no time at all. Will definitely put this one into my recipe box. Love, love, love it.

German Baked Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2007
Sorry, but this just did not do it for me. It was almost too sweet and there wasn't much flavor from the kraut. I thought it sounded good and I liked all the ingredients but I wouldn't make it again.

Blueberry Pound Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2011
Very sweet. Don't know if I would add that much sugar to the pan. I did eat it when it was warm. Very pretty cake, maybe could add a few more blueberries than the 2 cups. I would make this again. I baked this for 75 mins. and it was completely done. Maybe it could use a little citrus flavor, like lemon zest.

Chicken 'n' Stuff

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2010
Okay, I bought the stuffing mix but no seasoning packet, bought Stove Top Stuff, low sodium. With the cheese, canned soup and stuffing, there was plenty of salt, very good flavor, used part cr/chick soup along with cr/mush, very good. I would rate it comfort food on a cold day.

Green Bean Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
Another option would be to cook a ham bone with the green beans, etc. for a few hours and add potatoes near the end of the cooking. I mash the potatoes a little to help thicken it. I also add vinegar and a little sugar to balance the tartness. I don't use sour cream. Recipe was handed down from my great-grandmother. This is definitely comfort food and a very inexpensive soup to make.

Slow Cooker Thanksgiving Turkey

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2011
I guess I just don't get the reason for the bacon. I strained the bacon out as I didn't think it was that appealing with the pan juices but did thicken the juices for gravy. Turkey was moist and flavorful. I grated fresh garlic (as I didn't have the garlic pepper) and added black pepper with it. Would make this again as I have yet to find another recipe to my liking.

Apple Cobbler

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2010
I wouldn't make this again. Crust was too dry, touch, bland, filling was too sweet, which I should have tasted it before adding all the sugar, could have used more cinnamon. As far as I'm concerned this isn't a cobbler, it is more of a deep dish apple pie.

Summer Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2009
I thought this was very good, but really felt it was much, much better the second day. They definitely needed more seasoning. I think I just added more black pepper and salt. I love all the different veggies and the rice of course is what stuffed peppers is all about.

My Peach Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2012
Sorry, but I must have missed something in this recipe. I found the 1 T cinnamon extremely overpowering. I also could not fit it into a 1-1/2 qt casserole. Did not care for this recipe. Couldn't even taste the peaches or hardly find them in the pudding.

Coffee Liqueur Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2012
My brownies were excellent. I had 3 egg whites which I used and an extra tablespoon of coffee liquer. The brownies were moist in the middle and a little crusty on the outside. I baked them for the minimum amount of time. Loved them. I melted the butter and ch. chips in the microwave in the 8x8 pan and added the rest of the ingredients. This worked out just fine. I had no problem removing them from the pan either. I served this with vanilla ice cream and fudge topping.

Caramel Flan

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2011
First of all, I threw out the first batch of sugar as I stirred it. Secondly, according to the description, serve warm, I flipped it out of the dish before it had completely cooled and it fell apart. I guess that was my fault. I should have chilled it overnight so where does the "serve warm" come in. I used 1 cup of sugar as someone suggested. I might go back to the 3/4 cup if I make it again. I thought it tasted pretty good. My sugar got to the amber colored stage, maybe a little bitter, but since it was so sweet, I guess it was ok that way. I will try it again but will chill it the next time. My husand said on a scale of 1-10, he'd give it a five. I would try it again but would be more careful.

Three Packet Slow Cooker Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2011
This is probably the best roast I have made in a long, long time. I used a 4 lb. boneless chuck in the slow cooker on high for 4 hrs, and then turned it to low for about another hour. There is so much broth I can't believe it. I used a can of beef broth in place of water but I would say I must have eight cups of gravy. I will freeze the leftoever gravy for later. My husband asked where I bought the roast, it had so much flavor. Will definitely be making this again. I did add an onion but I don't think it would have made any difference. Yummo!!!

Kolaches II

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2010
These turned out great. I didn't have lemon extract so used lemon zest, which was fine. I watched them very closely as not to burn the bottoms. Started out with a 400 degree oven, then turned it up for the next batch. Didn't take long for them to bake. Would bake them again but want to try Solo filling. I didn't feel these tasted like a biscuit as another person suggested. They raised light and high. Biscuits are kind of dry but these weren't.

October Apple Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2010
Excellent pie. I used three different types of apples as that is what I had in the fridge. Followed everything else exactly, no need to change anything. It was wonderful. Will definitely make it again. I think the secret to a great apple pie could be the type of apple one uses. Needs to be tart, juicy and one that holds up well in baking, also the pie crust can make or break a great apple pie.
