My Peach Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2012
Sorry, but I must have missed something in this recipe. I found the 1 T cinnamon extremely overpowering. I also could not fit it into a 1-1/2 qt casserole. Did not care for this recipe. Couldn't even taste the peaches or hardly find them in the pudding.

Peach Berry Cobbler

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2012
I thought this was pretty good. I liked the cake-like topping. Sugar and nutmeg added a lot of flavor on top. I would make it again.

BBQ Rib-Eye - You Won't Believe It!

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2012
I just didn't think this is something I will try again. The steak did remain juicy even if it was overcooked by my husband's standards but this just didn't do it for me. Sorry.

Cream of Coconut Cake

This is a pretty sweet cake and I mean that literally, It was a little too sweet for me. Don't know if I will make this again. If you like really sweet desserts than this is for you.

Dijon Grilled Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2012
I doubled this recipe for four chops that were very thick with the bone in. Chops were moist and very tender. I think maybe I should have pierced the meat to obtain more flavor. Nonetheless, it was very good and I would try it again. I forgot to brush the chops with more sauce while they were on the grill, but they still turned out pretty darn good.

Oregon Salmon Patties

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2012
I did not add any liquid from the canned salmon. It was definitely moist enough. I also froze the patties before frying them and they held together perfectly. I also did not saute the onion but added it directly to the mixture before frying. I thought this was a little bland so would definitely tweek it the next time.

Alyson's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2012
I've made variations of this salad for years. I basically like the dressing but tune it to my own taste. I vary the vinegar. Today I used red wine and really don't measure out the mayo, wine or sugar, just to taste. Today I added red grapes, golden raisens and craisens. It is a great start to a salad recipe. One can add about anything you like to this and it would still taste great. Mandarin oranges would be good too. I also used green onions instead of red as I didn't have any.

Fresh Rhubarb Bread Pudding

I would say just ok. Love rhubarb but wasn't a big fan of this.

Chocolate Mousse Cake IV

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2012
I thought this was pretty good. Frosting was fairly light but rich. Definitely best served very cold. I think it needed choc curls on the top or as suggested raspberries as it wasn't that pretty when I finished frosting it. One really has to love chocolate to appreciate this cake. I made it for my daughter's birthday and she seemed to like it. I think I'll try another recipe for frosting like this just to compare.

Slow Cooker Texas Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2012
I thought this was very bland. For all the spices that went into it, I felt it needed something else. I will probably use BBQ sauce to give it more flavor. Should have read more of the reviews. I guess it was either you like it or it is just ok. Don't think I will make it again. Too many other recipes to try. Sorry. Maybe it is just me. I used a pork shoulder roast too for more flavor but it just didn't have it for me. I will take it to my family reunion tomorrow and hope it gets eaten as I bought an 8 lb. roast.

Italian Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2012
I had a problem with too much olive oil. I added more potatoes since I thought it was almost too wet. I thought the flavor was good. It is a nice change. I felt this was better the longer it marinated. I would make it again. Very good.

Tomato and Avocado Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2012
I made this twice. Way too much dressing and I even had three avocados and several small tomatoes and only added half the dressing. I liked it. I feel the balsamic vinegar discolors the avocados too much. They actually look brown. I used white balsamic the first time and it wasn't bad and then used the dark balsamic which really discolored them. I guess I would make it again but would use much less dressing and maybe try red wine vinegar.

Fresh Asparagus and Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: May 29, 2012
This was absolutely bland. I added salt/pepper as we were eating it. I used fresh asparagus which was al dente and that was ok as I don't like overcooked asparagus. I had leftover chicken and fresh asparagus which is why I decided to make this as well as lots of sour cream I wanted to use but I don't think I'll make this again as it really wasn't that special. Sorry.

Ruby-Red Strawberry Sauce

Reviewed: May 28, 2012
I thought this was very good. I used regular orange juice and added red food coloring to zap up the color. Beautiful. Regular orange juice isn't too overpowering. I used fresh strawberries and also frozen and both worked just fine. I definitely will make this again.

Turkey in a Pot

Reviewed: May 20, 2012
I had an 8 lb. turkey breast that I cooked on high for 6 hrs and it was more than done. It turned out very moist and flavorful. The gravy was good and didn't need any Kitchen Bouquet. The color was caramel. I did not use the sugar and thought it was just fine without it. I liked the pan juices but think I prefer regular gravy without the fruit and spices but all in all I was pleased with this recipe.

Cucumber-Carrot Salad

Reviewed: May 15, 2012
If seasoned rice vinegar has salt/sugar in it, do I still add more? I just had the natural rice vinegar and upped the seasoning a bit. I love the color and crunch. I am going to let it marry a bit before we eat it. There are so many possibilities for this as far as adding other veggies. Will make it again.

Slow Cooker Beef Pot Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2012
Someone mentioned about not tasting the fresh herbs. fresh herbs should be put in towards the end of the cooking time, otherwise they lose their intense flavor. Maybe more should be added towards the end.

Broccoli Delight Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2012
I use this salad recipe all the time. It is so easy and user friendly. I use dark raisins, dried cranberries or dried cherries, whatever I have on hand as well as cauliflower too. It is the dressing that adds the flavor. I also change the vinegar once in awhile. This time I used red wine vinegar. It is so easy to make and take places. We never tire of it.

Nonie's Best BBQ

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2012
Very good flavor. Reminds me of my mother's recipe. I like the tang. I think the next time I will add green peppers for extra veggies. I didn't cook the sauce in a separate pan. After the meat browned, I drained it and then added the sauce to the meat mixture and let it simmer for 15 minutes or so. Saves a pan.
