I am married, work and live in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I work for a major home improvement store at the general office. I really enjoy cooking and baking when I have time, but love easy/fast receipes that taste good with ingredients that I have the in pantry.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy making a variety of things. I do like to make "all in one" meals that combine your meat, potatoes, veggies for weekday meals that are good leftovers to pack for lunches. When I have company over, I enjoy trying new receipes from this website.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up with holiday meals being very traditional with the same receipes being used each year. Since I have had family over to my house more and more, I try to use the same main indredients but use a variety of receipes to change it up a bit.
My cooking triumphs
My mother is a very talented cook and usually doesn't follow receipes so it is hard to duplicate her receipes since she says she doesn't have any for some of my favorite things she makes! Her chili is to die for and I had to pretty much write down a receipe as she made it one day although I had to guess on how much spice she put in since measuring is out of the question. Anyway, now I can make her chili as long as I can get her "starter meat" that she gets from a local restaurant and they sell in local grocery stores, unfortunatley not in Eau Claire anywhere, but you can get in the Fox Cities area.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I made the Chili (as noted above~still in its experimentation phases) I made it too spicy (which I love!). My husband (boyfriend at the time ~ very early stages) ate a whole bowl (he doesn't like spicy) because he said that he liked it (I think he just like me), but he drank almost a whole gallon of milk with it and it took him almost 2 hours to eat it. He hasn't eaten since!
