Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2013
This recipe delivers! Cookies were large, chewy, and delicious! A couple tips...refridgerate the dough for at least an hour before baking. The 325 temp works for a dark cookie sheet. I found that I had to bump it up to 350 for a light pan. Doing these two things gave me fat, chewy cookies instead of flat ones.

Smiling Caprese Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2012
I actually made this in to a pasta salad by adding some cooked orzo. It was awesome! I adjusted the vinegar and oil to my preference (less oil more vinegar) and it was great. Thanks

Cafeteria Carrot Souffle

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2012
This was awesome! I made it for Christmas dinner as a side. I made it exactly as directed. I found that the vanilla was a little strong for our liking so I will cut back on that next time. Will also try 3/4 cup sugar to see if it makes that big of a difference. Why not use less sugar if you can? Thanks for the recipe. I finally have a way to choke down carrots :)

All-Day Apple Butter

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2011
This is awesome! Never knew it was so easy to make apple butter. I cut down on the sugar by a cup and it was still plenty sweet. We like a bit more spice so I added more cinnamon and I put it in the blender to smooth it out after it was done cooking. This is an excellent recipe that I am sure we will use every fall. I canned plenty so we can enjoy it all year. Thanks for posting!

Apple Breakfast Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2011
This is excellent! I made it as is (with the exception of grating the apples) and it was wonderful. I made a few changes the second time (added nutmeg, used half brown and half white sugar) and it was even better. Either way, it's a keeper!

Original Homemade Italian Beef

Very good. Used half the amount of peppers called for (because I was afraid of how the kids would react) and 2 packets of italian seasoning. Everyone loved it. This is a keeper.

Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2010
Absolutley perfect! Turkey was nice and moist. It didn't get a crispy skin (I am sure due to cooking the bird upside down at first.) but I really shouldn't be eating the skin anyway ;) WIll be making this turkey for every holiday!!!! Thanks!

Hot Apple Cider

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
pretty good. I had to make some modifications though. Instead of maple syrup, we used some brown sugar. I had to double the amount of spices...we like ours SPICED!!! Added fruit as well as the rind...why not? Make in the crock pot so it stayed warm. Make sure not to leave the orange and lemon in too long...they can take over. OK....so I made a lot of changes. I give four stars for the original recipe....nearly 5 for mine!

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
I was not impressed with this. The taste was pretty much as expected but my bird was still a tad dry. They flavor of the seasonings were not as prominent as I would have liked. Will use a new recipe next holiday season.

Country Green Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
Made these for Christmas and everyone thought they were excellent. Followed the recipe except I used frozen beans for the fresh. The fresh beans were not looking so good that week at the grocery store. Our eight year old thought they were too oniony so maybe I will cut back the onion next time for her :)

Country Pineapple Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
Cut this recipe in half and added some cinnamon and nutmeg. It was a tasty dish but not quite excellent. A little dry actually. I had a similar dish for the first time at a potluck and was trying to make it myself for Christmas dinner. So perhaps it is not fair that I compare it to the one I had previously. I haven't given up though. I am going to tweek it and try again!

Hummus III

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
Made this for my boyfriend since he loves hummus. I cut back on the lemon juice a bit and he still thought it was waaaay too lemony (I thought it tasted good but I've never had hummus before). I made the recipe again...minus the lemon... mixed it in with the previous batch and he loved it. Think I will add only a dash of lemon juice next time. Thanks.

Taste is very good but the dish doesn't get very brown/crispy. We liked it very much. Will keep.

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

We are trying to eat healthier and gave these a try. They were pretty tasty. Reminded me of chili though since they had a strong cumin/chili powder taste. Might cut back on those next time. Worth making again!

Apple Butter Pork Loin

This was ok but not spectacular. The apple butter flavor really didn't infuse the meat. We will prob stick with another recipe. Thanks though.

Spooky Witches' Fingers

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
So much fun! My first batch turned out great....the rest got really huge and puffy. I think it is because after the first batch I realized I didn't add the green food coloring so I worked some into the dough. I will give it another try, adding the food coloring while mixing the other ingredients.
