Mrs. Sigg's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2008
I tried this recipe because I absolutely loved Mrs. Sigg's snickerdoodles, but have to admit that I was disappointed with the results of these peanut butter cookies. My family agreed that they were "just okay" do to a lack of overall flavor (perhaps to do using shortening) and peanut butter taste. I went back to my old recipe, which contains a cup of butter and two cups of peanut butter, and everyone was much happier.

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2008
This tasted very much like the orange chicken from the Chinese restuarant in the food court of our local mall. It is very easy to prepare and the sauce thickens up beautifully once the cornstarch is added. I personally thought there was a little too much sauce, but the rest of my family didn't! I was very pleased with how this turned out.

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: May 11, 2008
I used boneless, skinless chicken breasts because that was all I had. I also took the advice of other reviewers and halved the amount of butter. To me (and my family), the amounts of mustard and curry powder were just right! I'm keeping this recipe, for sure!

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2007
I made these cookies for the first time last night, and they were just what I was looking for! The recipe made about 21 large (3-inch) cookies, and they took no longer than 15 minutes in my oven. The cookies are thick, but rather lightweight and cakey (though not at all dry or airy). The level of spices is perfect, and so is the icing; however, I needed only half of the amount of icing the recipe calls for. This recipe is a definite keeper!

Peanut-Ginger Marinade

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2007
This recipe was great! I actually used it to marinate a steak, which I then broiled. My family just loved it and told me to definitely keep the recipe. The only thing I didn't have was chili paste, and I had to use red pepper flakes instead of ground red pepper, but it was still pretty hot (and very tasty)!

Mom's Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2007
This is definitely the best pumpkin pie I've ever tasted (or made). Pumpkin pie is my favorite kind of pie, but even non-pumpkin pie lovers in my extended family raved about this one. I did end up with a little too much filling, so I just greased a loaf pan and poured the extra into it, baked it along with the pie, and ate it when it came out! YUMMY!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies IV

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2007
These are definitely the best oatmeal raisin cookies I have ever had! They are my favorite kind of cookie, so I've made and tasted plenty of different recipes. The thing that caught my eye about this one was the secret of soaking the raisins - BRILLIANT! These cookies were soft and chewy and SO FLAVORFUL! I'll never try another recipe again!

Eileen's Spicy Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2007
In my opinion, these are the perfect gingerbread men. They have the strong spicy taste that I was looking for, and they baked up beautifully (I cut them nice and thick because that's the way I like them)! The dough was also very easy to work with. My family gobbled them all up before I even had a chance to make any frosting for them! This is definitely going to be my only gingerbread men recipe from now on!

Coconut Gumdrop Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2007
I make these every year for Christmas. At first, I was hesitant to use all shortening instead of butter, but I decided to follow the recipe exactly. The cookies came out awesome! The only mistake I made was to be a little too generous with the oatmeal, coconut, pecans, and gumdrops; there was barely enough dough to hold everything together! But now I just add scant cups of these things and the cookies are still loaded! EXREMELY TASTY!

Pumpkin Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2007
This was the best chili I or my family have ever had (and we have tried many different recipes)! I am the only real pumpkin lover in my family, but it was my turn to cook and I decided to try this recipe. I must admit that when I first added the pumpkin, the chili smelled wierd. Once I added the chili powder, however, it smelled more like chili. The only change I made was to throw in a can of kidney beans, since we love them in our chili. The chili was neither too spicy nor too mild, in my opinion. Just right!

Light and Creamy Brown Sugar and Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2007
This recipe deserves five stars because it turns out to be exactly what it is described to be (and it's super easy to make). I was looking for a lighter alternative to heavy, sugary frosting - this was perfect! However, it is definitely not anything like what most people consider cake frosting; this is more like a thick, fluffy whipped cream (the consistency is somewhat heavier though, and super easy to spread). And don't be scared off by the brown sugar - you can't even taste it at all, and it doesn't make the frosting gritty.

Best Carrot Cake Ever

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2007
This recipe was just what I was looking for in a carrot cake! It was moist, dense (in a good way), and so delicious; everyone just loved it. A healthfood/organic friend of ours even went for seconds! I used the Cream Cheese Frosting 11 from this site - PERFECT!

Just what I was looking for to frost my carrot cake with! I wanted a frosting that definitely tasted like cream cheese and not just sugar - this is the perfect balance of cream cheese taste and sweetness! I used The Best Carrot Cake Ever recipe from this site and it was a total hit!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2007
I am giving this recipe five stars because even though I prefer cakey brownies, these ones definitely live up to the majority of the reviews (they are very moist and fudgy). I didn't bother to make the frosting, but my family and friends just loved them!
