About this Cook
My husband is a Rabbi which makes me a Rebbetzin. We love having lots of people over for meals, and have become famous for our cooking.
My favorite things to cook
I love making desserts especially chocolate. The problem is that i always wind up tasting too much of it!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up, I didn't really have any cooking traditions, but now that I'm married, my husband and I have been creating our own. This includes making doughnuts for Chanukah and Hamentashen for Purim. I also love making giant matzah balls (we call them Monster Balls) every Friday for Shabbat.
My cooking triumphs
In my previous tiny apartment, the only kind of oven that I had to cook with in is something that, outside of my apartment, everybody would call a toaster! I've managed to cook feasts as well as cook for a large party all in that little oven.
My cooking tragedies
I love making hot chocolate cake, and I could be a pro. I once borrowed a friend's oven to make it in, and the oven wasn't calibrated properly. The whole thing dried out, but I had no way of testing it before serving, so it was super gross to serve and eat.

Bagels II
I've never made bagels before so I wasn't sure what to expect. These came out exactly the way a bagel should taste - texture and all. I added a bit more salt to the recipe, put about a tsp of baking soda into the boiling water along with honey instead of sugar. I also baked the bagels on a stone. Excellent!

Tomato and Garlic Pasta
I just made this and had to rate it right away. This is fantastic! I didn't have any parm on hand so i omitted it. i was concerned that w/o the cheese it would be lacking in flavor, but it is not at all. I was looking for a recipe to duplicate something that i had at a restaurant and this matches it exactly. (of course at the restaurant it cost $18 rather than the $3 to make it myself!)

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III
This is the first chocolate cake from scratch that i've found to be excellent. i used soy-milk to make it non-dairy with no problem. i frosted it with a non-dairy whipped topping that i mixed together with crushed chocolate sandwich cookies.
