Pudding Poke Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2008
I made this with the "Butter Cake" recipe from this site, and it was perfect! I didn't want the cake to be too heavy, and the pudding was a great way to balance out the texture. Thanks.

Butter Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2008
My father-in-law wanted a yellow cake, and I didn't want to make it from a box and this was perfect. I combined this cake with the "Pudding Poke Cake" from this site for a chocolate pudding "icing", and it was perfect. I'm definitely not a baker, but the cake was not dry, and a perfect texture and taste.

Great side dish. My husband loved them, and swore we'd never buy the boxed ones again.

The first and only slaw recipe I will ever use! Plus it's so easy, I will never gamble on buying premade slaw again. Thanks!

Beer Bread I

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2008
I had very high hopes of this, but just didn't like the taste. I think I used a beer that was too strong (one my fiance was drinking, an IPA, I think). I found the bread bitter, though it tasted better with the dill dip I was serving too. Other people seemed to like it ok, but there was definitely a good amount left at the end of the party. It looked nice though, I also added cheddar cheese. I will try this again with a different beer and hope for better results.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2008
This was soo good! And easy. I used an Icehouse, added a splash of worchestershire sauce, and a sprinkle of garlic powder. I also melted mozzarella over the meat and bread, in the oven. Perfect. Will definitely be making again!

Jamaican Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2008
I was very suprised that I liked this! I only made it to go with the Jamaican beef patties, and I had all the ingredients on hand, but it was actually pretty tastey. I wouldn't want it everyday, and I was scared of eating any leftovers because of the banana, but it was definitely a good side for the Jamaican themed dinner.

Jamaican Beef Patties

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2008
These were good, I was very proud of myself when I saw the finished product. I wouldn't want them everyday, hence the 4, but if you're feeling adventurous then definitely give them a try. And I definitely did not have enough dough for all of the meat, though I may have had more meat than the recipe called for, I would suggest increasing the dough amount by about a half.

Beef and Bean Chimichangas

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2008
These were very good, everyone loved them. I used a packet of taco seasoning and a 15 oz. can of tomato sauce, and they turned out great. I love that they are baked, not fried! Also, I left out the beans.

Tomato-Cream Sauce for Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2008
This one is definitely a keeper. I didn't change anything at all, just added chicken and served over bowtie pasta. Great dinner!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2007
I reduced the brown sugar to 1/3 cup, added worchestire sauce and didn't have any ginger. After the reviews about ketchup mixture, I just put a little on the top and on the bottom, and it was great! Just the meatloaf recipe I was looking for.

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2007
This recipe was so easy, and tasted great! I don't think I've had a more moist chicken. I did add potatoes, carrots, and onion instead of aluminum balls, and let the chicken cook all day on low. Very easy, and dinner was ready when I got home!

I added a diced, drained cucumber... couldn't imagine Tzatziki sauce without it, and it was great! Served with the Souvlaki recipe(made with chicken) and pita bread. Made an excellent greek meal!

Cajun Crab Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2007
This was a very good recipe, tasted like something you'd order at a restaurant. I did use less salt, cayenne, added white wine and sauteed celery, and substituted half the heavy cream for milk and extra flour.

Fabolous. I used some large baking potatoes, served with a salad and that was plenty for a whole meal. And they're great reheated.
