I need to explain the directions with more clarity. The creamed butter mixture will be lumpy when mixd properly, spoon it into the 9 by 13 pan, and then press down with your hands. When you pull the base mixture from the oven, that is when you start the corn syrup, sugar mixture. This mixture after adding the cornflakes will be thick, just spoon it over the base layer, then use the back of a spoon to level it. when this layer is cooled, make your frosting. hope that clears things up, it's a touchy recipe, but wonderfully worth the extra hassle.
